copied from KLR list (I know the Tiger list had a message along the same lines too):

Last Saturday a rider with the Thin Air Tourist Trophy endurance rally left Montrose, Colorado for Moab, Utah. He did not make the check point in Moab and is considered missing. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Jim Young, please the Grand Co. Sheriff's office. Jim Young was riding a blue and white R1150GS and was heading north of Montrose, Co. to Grand Junction, Co. and then over to Moab. He may have taken the Castleton/Gateway road as a short-cut. You can see a photo of Jim and his BMW at: http://www.danielcohen.org/jimyoung.htm

    A few details:

Grand Co. Sheriff phone is 435-259-8115

The Tiger list has mentions of organizing an air search, and getting some riders out searching on ground.

Apparently the missing rider, Jim Young, was found and he's dead.

I haven't heard details yet. LDriders has a photo, is taking donations for the family, and promises an update soon.

Apparently he was quite an experienced rider.
