Mike, Thinking I'm up for your ride on Saturday. Don't know anything about the conditions, big bike friendly, dirt/street etc. Guess fishing might not be on the agenda.

I haven't ridden this before but should be mostly dirt. We will be on pavement until we get about 10 miles into the ride. Then it should be fairly nice dirt roads up to Burnt Fork Lake (or the gate). The route north towards Stevensville may degrade into a little rougher 2 track. Reviewing the Motor Vehicle Use Map, this route is open to highway legal vehicles until mid-october. If they can get a car through there, we should be okay on the bikes.

I would expect some rutting, loose rock and maybe some small sandy patches here and there.

I'm expecting an easy ride through the east side of the Bitterroot Valley. I'll be taking the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

I've mapped out a route home to Hamilton via the west side depending on how I feel after some BBQ @ Long Riders and a beer from the brewery next door.

Hey Mike. I didn’t really look at your route north when I first saw the map, but I don’t think you can ride from Willow Creek to South Burnt Fork Road. I rode back in there once for a few miles and the road was closed off with an earthen mound. Think it hits private property. If you find a way through, please let me know. I think that would make a great ride. Most roads into the mountains are dead ends.

I guess we shall see what happens. The forest service Motor Vehicle Use Map shows Willow Creek Road connecting to FS969. FS969 goes to the north end of the Forest Service boundary. Satellite images show a couple 2 track paths out to Corley Gulch Road which connects to South Burnt Fork. We may get to the end of the forest service road and have to turn back and slab it to the lunch spot but it will be fun exploring the area anyway. It's raining today so the dust should be minimal :-)

Maybe I’ll just ride with you. If so, I’ll meet you on the road.

You can get from Willow Creek around the back side of the hill and down Burnt Fork.

There’s plenty left and you don’t have to stay up all night to see it!

The nice thing about winter is you can do your star gazing before dinner.

Had to take advantage of the nice weather today.
Did one of my favorite rides which I like to do either before or after the tourist season which is up the North Fork to Polebridge for a huck bearclaw and a meatball calzone, then to Rd115 and west across the mountains to Red Meadow Lake then back down to Upper Whitefish Lake then a few fire and logging roads across Whitefish Mtn and then back around Lower Whitefish Lake, (where the beautiful people live), and southwest around to Tally Lake and then south over the mountain to Bitteroot Lake around the mountains on the backside of Blacktail Ski Resort and finally back home. About 240 miles

We went through Polebridge a few weeks ago on our adventure through Glacier and Koocanusa. Hope to get back up that way sometime in the future!

Riding to Burnt Fork Lake tomorrow.

If you'd like to come along for a Saturday morning ride, meet me in the Hamilton High School Parking lot (North-West corner) at 9am. Be aware, I have not updated the start location on the track.

    Here's the proposed track: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31039667

Should be a fun ride and great BBQ @ Longriders in Stevi if @Kinsman has room for a few dirty bikers.

Always room at my place for two-wheeled tramps. Looks like a nice day to ride.
