I am open to suggestions :dunno

FYI, I can hold my own in most “real off road” scenarios...not extreme enduro stuff, but I can hang in most dual sport scenarios

Appreciate that. You’re correct, that’s a bit far (3.5 hrs).

If you meet up with seig, you will hit some great stuff. Lots of organized rides are based on his guidance.

I threw together some stuff from Baxter Springs to just short of the Ohio border. As much gravel as posable. Is that the direction and type of stuff your interested in? If so I'll clean it up and refine it a little. It's all ridden and proven except a few miles of connectors, but that's the adventure part of the ride. Right?

FYI Our "off road" is just that "not on a road" (sometimes not even on a trail) but you'll impress us if you can follow on a 950. :evil

Ha, you're to kind, thank you. Mostly dis-organized if I get involved. Just an old dirt biker with a lot of gas and time and a great dirt biker wife that will follow me anywhere ......... literally.

I prefer gravel over pavement, and prefer unmaintained/unimproved/rugged trail type stuff over gravel...but at this point I will be grateful for whatever you’re willing to share. :bmwrider

I also organize/develop/lead many rides a year, and have multiple D/S GPX tracks developed to support our annual DS/Adventure rally...I appreciate the work and effort.

I don’t get off the old unmaintained/discontinued roads and trails we have up here and bushwack, but I don’t usually shy off any but the most severe ones :dunno

I certainly wouldn’t presume to force my way into a group ride among friends who are all comfortable with each other’s skill level, I don’t want to ruin a ride for peeps...I have had plenty of rides happen where someone who can’t hang at our level sort of takes the fun out of it, and I get it.

    Thanks a bunch.

Typical riding for me here in New England

Sloppy muddy spring thaw in NH filled with baby heads and basketballs

Some sweet single track down in SE MA

I know the area well. You can't go wrong going SE of Baxter Springs into SW MO, NW AR and NE OK. However a very under appreciated area to ride are the Chautauqua and Flint Hills of Kansas.

Are you going to do loops out of Baxter or overnight and if over night how many nights. That would make a difference as to recommendations. I'm sending a message with my contact info.

This is actual trail that Sieg and I ride in Missouri. Make sure you watch after the power line which is early on.

That just the easy family poker run loop. We'll get on some tight gnarly stuff next week, if Layton leads.

Thanks for that, puts it in perspective. A lot like the stuff I ride in SE MA on the 450. Not this trip.

Thanks man. Not what I’m looking for on this trip...I might be able to muscle through most of it, but I’ll be exhausted and slow you guys way down for sure.

I would be grateful for any GPX tracks of adventure/dualsporting you may have/mentioned.

    Hello from Salem MO.
Visiting friends in Licking, decided to stay a couple of days at the Crossroads Inn.

Taking a cage ride to Devil's Well and Welch Cave & mill on the way back to Licking today. Salem tonight, lunch from Bixby Store tomorrow, then home the 21 way.

If you see an old, blue, Mazda 5 with the driver leaning into the turns out of habit, try not to laugh.

Actually "Welch Spring & Hospital ruins" is how it's known.

Short version, most of you know these spots.

    Devil's Well;
Go there. Once. :lol3 Just to check it off the list.

Not for the mobility impaired, though.

    Then we went by Akers.

Got about 5-minutes of sunshine on the picnic bench as we were eating. Bonus!

And Man!, that new Grub-Slinger they have is GOOD!.
If you haven't been, go & order an erasable-board (opposite the soft drink machine) Special. Or three.

Even before Covid, my year has been weird. First time in Bixby a year(?). Hell, now we'll road-trip just to get go-food now. :D

I would say so. Never been to the Oark, but I've heard about it & looked it up online.
The Bixby store is a little younger. Only been around since 1906. :D

Went flying went with a buddy years ago. Ended up down Bixby way.
"Uh, Jerome, aren't we a little lower than is legal? Or safe?" :lol3

Fan of old bridges. Like this picture crossing arm of the Lake of the Ozarks. Glad they kept the old bridge. Midnight Bill, you probably know where this bridge is located. 2nd Swinging bridge.jpg
