If anyone is riding the NF today, be on the lookout for Gamblers. They are oddballs who drive junkers into the woods and collect trash. Meeting up at Marcoot fire tower at 9.
Don't even know how it came about but adding to my bucket list. Groups are nationwide even.

Cool! found this on their event page: "Our 3rd year hosting the family gambler. This is a organized trail clean up with a planned route through the Mark Twain national forest, we are a family friendly event it will be a one day event just as years past. If anyone is looking to check out a Gambler type of event but on a smaller scale this is for you. The route this year is saved into a GPX file that that you can use Gaia or any other GPX viewer. It will be a 140 mile day if you hit all the stops. We will be meeting up at the Marcoot fire tower outside Bunker. 37.5619916, -91.3094497 at 9 am Saturday Aug 21st"

Bunker alone would keep them busy with the trash cleanup.

I wonder if they all had their USFS trash pick up training?
We were at Sutton's Bluff today talking about this with the campground host.

And to think that the USFS once thought the motorcyclists trashed the area…..hint, hint….it was always the locals who trashed the area.

Well heading back to Illinois today. Been a "Missouri Adventure Rider" since Wednesday. We got the Show Me 500 pretty well laid out, new course this year. Everywhere we went there was more pavement and more private, getting harder all the time to set these rides up.
Nice weekend but only had one family of 5 and one other single camper show up at the club to camp and ride. That's ok having 600 acers of forest to ourselves ain't a bad thing.

Dang wish I could hit this 5oo but my brothers 50th birthday party is that weekend.

Can't imagine how you found a different route as the other routes seeM to ride everything.

ADV riders on this site should be all over this ride.

Doing a fly and ride this week and I'm hoping to be in Hannibal on Friday night if my plans pan out. Who's around?

Yes, the same Crystal Mill, but I came in from Marble (back door). I’ve done Schofield, but I was on a 100 pound lighter bike, and I was 7 years younger. 67 now, feeling a bit elderly. :lol3

They say that is the most photographed spot in Colorado. The last time I climbed Scofield was on a XR650 Honda.

It's always amusing to hear who gets blamed for bringing tin cans and glass bottles deep into the NF. It's not backpackers or motorcyclists. It's usual locals on horses because nobody with any sense carries that weight on a trip.

Yep! Grabbed that front brake and it came back to the grip. I went right on by the KOA. It’s all on me. I took that right caliper off before the trip. I didn’t get out the torque wrench when I put it back on. Both bolts came out. Looks like $60 worth of parts and I’ll be back in business. No pics. I’m at the farm. Got this pic yesterday. From what I saw I’d say A. The photo looks identical to the one I took in 2008.
