I see no need to have more than one baseball thread, so here we go, 2020 MLB here we go, any predictions or disappointing/uplifting changes with your team?

Let's see, the Wilpons are selling the remaining stake in the Mets to a billionaire that holds a minority stake. For those that don't know, they had 'over 500 accounts' with Madoff. So as they were in the process of building Citifield, I'd estimate hundreds of millions vanished, including future Mets payroll liabilities. These dumb fuckers decided in 1999, that instead of just paying out Bobby Bonilla and cutting him loose for $6M, Madoff pursuaded the Wilpons to instead invest it with him and agree to pay Bobby $1.2M a year until 2035, saying they'd crush it with his 15% yearly returns. He retired 18 years ago.

Days before this announcement, they sell one of their more reliable pitchers, Zack Wheeler, to their rivals the Phillies. After all of this, how the fuck are the Mets only 15-1 to win the WS???

What the actual fuck?!?! I'm gonna have to Google this one.

Cubs haven't done much yet to bolster their bullpen. But it's early. I still don't know what to think about hiring David Ross as a manager. I was happy with them letting Maddon go. Hopefully Grandpa Rossy will bring some discipline to the team. They haven't had that in a few years. Since he was a teammate with most of the roster I hope he's not too much of a friend.

Mets are just a stupid franchise, so eh.

Now, the Ray's trading Tommy Pham when they should be upgrading??!!!

And Boston maybe trading Mookie to White Sox or Reds. If Yanks get Cole, that pretty much locks the division.

Not buying that Mookie gets traded at all, nevermind to those teams - why would the reds or white sox take on Betts $27M salary + prospects for a 1 year rental when they were low 70 game win teams last year? And what sort of prospects could the red sox hope to get from a non contender for a one year rental when they have to take on that salary? Or if they get good prospects, they'd have to kick in a bunch of salary, when they're trying to lower it, all while pissing off fans. Don't see it.

Reds have Moustakas and Trevor Bauer now, not superstars but shows they're making a run. I took $20 at 50/1, it's a long shot but I wouldn't count them out.

Rendon to the Angels, they're shaping up to have one stellar lineup, now with better pitching as well. My 60/1 future went down to 20/1, so I'm happy.

Meanwhile...the Mets trade Zack Wheeler and then pick up Rick Porcello. :fpalm

Apologies to the NFL fans, but MLB off season trading is more fun than NFL seasons to me.

Hell, Mattress Mack bet more on the world series than what the Astros are being fined.

If cheating is wrong and punishable, then the results acquired while cheating should be nullified.
Yes, I know teams cheat but.....it’s only cheating if you get caught. Then you’re busted. Finding them 5M is a slap on the wrist.

As a lifelong Mets fan, I'm very happy with this distinction. Beltran already is on a Met's fan shit list from around 2007 when he looked at a curveball strike to end the pennant series. If he didn't step down I would have bought a ticket behind the dugout when they came to Dodger stadium and booed him the entire game.

I'm sorry that you lost that opportunity. Maybe we could have picked it up on TV.

There's still the Astros national tour all summer long, almost anyone can participate in that heckling the Astros, some of the players are definitely still around. :lol3

After a game a reporter asked Altuve why he didn't want his team mates to tear his shirt off. Kind of weird then, but makes sense now.
