Alright, playoffs start next week and the matchups are nearly cemented.

    AL

With Yankees one game behind the Astros as of this post, it's likely Twins V Yanks, and Houston V either Cle/Oak/TB. My prediction is Oak vs. Cle in a one game playoff, I like both teams so I can't say who will win. I have money on the Yankees and Cleveland, but would love to see Oakland advance to the WS, eh @Benduro?

    NL

With the Dodgers clearly at the top spot, it will be them vs either the Brewers or the Nationals. I see Nats taking the Brews on the one game series, goodluck against Strasburg at home. Nationals then have a great shot against the Dodgers with their three starters. Dodgers should have won a WS this decade, and if they do this year it's despite Dave Roberts, I've seen him make incredibly boneheaded moves like keeping Ryu up to bat in the 6th with bases loaded and down in runs, only to take him out the next inning after he strikes out...WTF?

The Cardinals are coming on strong, but I think Atlanta will take the day.

I predict either the Yankees or Houston besting either the Nationals or Dodgers in the World Series. Bring it on baby!!

EDIT : I love a good bet, not many I won't accept, so if there's head to head action anybody wants to get in on, with 50% of proceeds to Baldy, I'm all ears. Note, I bet small increments and milk crates. :lol3

Yeah, as an Oakland fan this season has been wild.

I'm thinking the wild card will be Tampa @ Oakland, but it could go any way right now.

How about those Nats. You lose your best player to division rival and then beat them by 8 games to make the playoffs.

That was one of the best highlights of the season to watch for me, speaking as a Met fan.

Twins fan here. It seems like everytime they make the playoffs, it's against the Yankees and a likely sweep. I was hoping for anyone else this year. Oh well, at least they put up some impressive stats.

I was just digging into the possibilities when determining what to be today, Twins haven't even clinched yet. They're swept every time by Yanks, maybe this time they will get the wild card and beat the Astros, not sure that's much better though.

Twins are four up with five left. Three of those are against the Royals. I think they'll pull it off.

I considered driving up to KC to a game but my wife just had a hip surgery and is using a walker. No way she would go now.

Sad for the Braves fans out there.
That Acuña was going to be in the 40-40 club ("and I ain't stu-stu-stuttering").

As we near the end of the season, many of the Cubbies are hurt, Trout and Ohtani too, though the halos are out of contention.

    Speaking of which, holy shit!
Tonight's series-ender in Anaheim was crazy. I thought we were gonna lose our third in a row, AND our WC advantage, but Chappy, the boss of all bosses, stepped up and delivered.

Then "The Best Pitcher in the History of Baseball" (-Jomboy Media) Liam Hendriks, 1-2-3'd them.

Hopefully these next four games are a fair bit more sedate.
Canha out with a groin strain, but Piscotty might be back soon.

The Astros little to medium size guys will beat those physical freaks who play for the Yankees in the ALCS , and the meet the Dodgers in a tough 6 game series and win a 2nd WS in 3 years . They have too much pitching , Alex Bregman , and Altuve to lead maybe the best overall lineup ever .

    Fucking Nats.

When our safety meeting started, the Brewers were winning 3-1.

After the safety meeting, I see the Nats came back.

    Stupid meeting.

I got them at 50-1 to win the WS. They have a decent shot against the Dodgwhores. Can I coin that or is it no good?

What is it to an Oakland fan anyhoo? :kat

Tonight's game pits the lowest (Rays @ #30/30) payroll vs the 7th lowest payroll. (A's at #23/30) (Linky). It's amazing that the Rays hit all those home runs and made the playoffs on that payroll.

There's a lot of parallels with the two teams.

Twins fan here but I know their history with the Yankees. At least it was a fun regular season.

That would be a great series, Yanks should have taken Stroman IMHO.

Nats seriously hurt their chances against the Dodgers by having Strasburg pitch three innings in the WC game. It was necessary as Scherzer was not on target, but we shall see what happens now. Scherzer is likely dealing with the same back pain he's had almost all season, he's been off almost all Sep, I have little faith in him now unfortunately, I'd like to see them put the Dodgers away and deny them a third NL title.
