Went to the Padres game Saturday (was in town for the Coronado Bay Bridge run on the Sunday morning) and why on Earth Machado got $300mm is beyond me.
The atmosphere and level of play at that game (vs. Pirates) was total minor league.
Which is to say it was mostly a fun, goofy time. There were dropped balls, missed infield flies, errors, the whole shebang.

Only the beers were $8- $14.50(!) and everything (souvenirs, food, parking, etc.) was super expensive. :bluduh

Since we're now using this as an all-purpose baseball thread:

Steal for the cycle. When a baseball player steals 2nd base, 3rd base, and home after one plate appearance. Until yesterday, it had happened just 11 times since 1928, which is more rare than a perfect game by a pitcher (18 since 1956).

Yesterday, Mallex Smith of the Mariners got to 1st on a walk, then proceeded to work his way around to score a run with a headfirst slide on his steal of home.

Manny Machado plays like an asshole. If you watch closely, he tries to spike the first baseman even on routine ground outs. Sure he has talent, but still he's a major league jerk.

Looking like Houston is the team to beat now, unfortunately. What I like best about baseball is the excitement around a team that goes on a tear in September and proceeds to win it all.
