Before the obvious popularity of the modern full face dirt bike helmet, people used/raced open face helmets with goggles and "guard". Can you buy a [decent] modern variant on this? Something along the lines of what's below. Do not want "hipster or "bikie" version. With skull logo face wrap. Do not want to degenerate into argument about full face vs open face...thanks in advance
The hel met is easy - just search for trials bike or atv helmet. You can even get flip down tinted screens https://www.mxstore.com.au/p/Acerbi...MIhIDu-Lic3wIV0CMrCh2QIQ9IEAsYAyABEgJOsfD_BwE Good luck with the pastic face slicer
I had the full face version of those JT hellmets What about one of these https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Vintage-Mot...-R-T-Magnum-/223055855262?hash=item33ef2a3e9e https://www.ebay.com/itm/123535342797
not exactly what your looking for but a Bell MOTO 3 is a cool full face retro moto cross lid the Bell bullet is a cool retro road race lid and Premier also do a retro road race . I remember those face masks on scrambler riders on pictures on birthday cards when I was 7 and that's over 40 year ago I never seen one in my whole life . I met a cool old dude 20 year ago who had lived on his bike in the Arazona desert for 15 years and he said how come you still wear a jet helmet ? and your drive chain is too dry it wont last long like that I was so ashamed i have never had a dry chain since .
Had a moto 3 back in the early 80s.... loved it. Before that Bell Magnum. Took a big size to fit my head... the new ones don't fit my noggin. M
hi David plenty manufacturers of modern, light trials open face helmets; Nenki, Airoh, Wulf and Hebo are the biggest names.... SCOTT still do the good ol' face mask for the 089 and 83X series goggles... and there are heaps of manufacturers of "paintball" goggles/masks - which may be easier to source/find these days. ... so if you're hell bent on going "David Bailey" retro... there are some options still today... ... but I have not seen a JT Helmet like the one you posted... in a long time.
Arai used to do a competition open face helmet with a screw-on chin piece that was a roost guard, I still have one in the shed that's seen little use (I got it for Trials). Dunno if they still make one though. EDIT: A quick google search shows Arai make one (no chinpiece though) and they retail around $400 starting point.
Thanks all, my google fu seems to be off at the moment.... I do have an old el-cheapo open face which sort of matches to my postie bike, chucking it on it just seems so stupid light, great vision [ though decent goggles will limit that a bit ], and it's surprisingly quiet, so I thought maybe I could find a serious modern version and give it a try. I never even thought about Trials helmets
