Did the Mojave trail on the 1290 SAR this past weekend. Day 1 was approx 170 miles, and only 10 miles pavement. Day 2 was a different route, a little over 200 miles ( 60 miles pavement). Bike performed well in the deep sand riverbed and was nimble enough through the tight sand washes. Was an incredible weekend in the CA Desert. Approx 80 degrees and light breeze. No mechanical issues except a slice in the sidewall of my front stock TKC80. I was aired down to 22 psi for the first day and beginning of day 2. Got greedy on the Powerline road and was charging too hard through the rocky section, resulting in a flat. Put a tube in it and finished the day. I recommend this ride but on a smaller machine. Great scenery and met some nice folks on the way.
