    Monkeys and Minis in May:
Bring your 50-150cc mini-bikes to the Appalachian mountains in southeast Tennessee and enjoy at least three days of dual sport or street riding and camaraderie with like-minded inmates.

    Location:
    Tellico Plains TN

    Dates:
Organized rides Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6-8 May 2021. Come earlier or stay longer if you'd like, plenty to ride, do, and see.

    Rally fees:
$0.00, costs enough for travel, fuel, food, lodging. And it's just for fun (because riding a mini-bike is not serious in any way).

    Organized by:
    Kyle Kirschenmann
PM or email kkmann64 AT gmail.com to register or ask questions please.

    Rally theme:
A fun get together for Monkey's, Grom's, Kawasaki Z125, Ruckus, Super Cubs, Mini-Trails, CT Trail bikes, etc. I can provide gravel forest road and paved road rides for many days. So pick your poison and stay in the dirt or stay on the hundreds of miles of little backroads. Your bike must be road legal.

I already have over 400 miles of rides planned in GPX files. These are comprised of street, a mix of street and forest roads, and mainly forest roads. All the routes can be ridden with standard bikes and tires (upgraded suspension is always a plus tho!). We can tackle the singe tracks trails if the group wants to (might take a village to get through..).

The rides I guide will be a casual pace, figure 125 miles or maybe a little more on the day (that's 5 plus hours of riding time), you can always go back out and ride more, the small roads are almost endless in the area. I have one caveat for the rides I lead, no bikes with loud aftermarket exhausts. We will be touring around rural areas and the national forest and frankly I don't want to listen to that all day (and neither will others). So we will have a designated "quiet" group. I will provide you with any mix of road types you like, but if you have to bring your "loud-as-a-track bike" bike, you will ride with others.

    Routes:
I have 4 routes already planned in a GPX file. We've ridden them on Monkey's and Ruckus too. I can plan others if requested (I might just figure out some others to add to the file anyway). Let me know if you don't use any type of electronic navigation and I'll put together some paper directions if needed.

Rides leave at 0900 Thursday, Friday, Saturday from Rally HQ.

    Rally HQ:
The Farmhouse Inn, 305 Veterans Memorial Dr, Tellico Plains.

    Lodging/Camping:
    Farmhouse Inn, www.tellicofarmhouseinn.com, 423-253-3123
Trout Mountain Inn (just down the street a couple blocks), I think they are only listed on airbnb?
Cherohala Mountain Trails campground (has a few cabins and large camping area)
Hunt's Motorcycle Lodge (has a few cabins and camping)
Cherokee National Forest has tent and RV camping areas (don't think they have any utility connections tho)

    Food/Dining:
Sav-a-Lot grocery, Dollar General, and CVS stores for food and stuff.
    Senor Lopez Mexican
    Bears Den pizza
    Papa's Pizza
    Tellicafe
    Iron Works Grille
    Subway and Hardees
beer store located in the shopping center (and the gas stations).

    SEE YOU IN MAY!

Buy one, I just did and I keep finding excuses to ride it. Looking for a blue or yellow one now.

Now I need to find an excuse to drive across the country for this rally!

I would, but I already have too many other toys and I've been in downsizing mode. I sold two of my bikes within the last 6 months and I'm down to just the right variety and amount for my use. Like the two bikes that I just got rid of, I most likely wouldnt ride a monkey bike enough to justify having it, especially in the urban city environment that I live in. That being said, I make an annual trip up there every year, usually in October, without a doubt, some of the best riding roads in the country. Last year I went solo and I rented a cabin just outside of Robbinsville, NC. Every year one of my rides always includes riding the Cherohala to Tellico Plains.

Here's the routes I have so far, with terrain view. Lots more in the area to ride, just depends on how rough you can stand it. 125-145 mile loops.

This is a really fantastic area to ride! I wish I had a Monkey bike but I may just show up for this on my 150cc scooter and stay mostly on the pavement. The Tellico area is very small bike friendly both on and off road.

I recently purchased this 250cc dual sport China bike, it's rated at 15 horsepower. Would that be allowed on your trail rides? PXL_20201209_154219731.jpg

No. doesn't fit the described criteria of 50-150cc and "mini bike". Sorry, just not going down that slippery slope, that's a "full size" dual sport comparatively. However, you could get a group of small dual sports together and ride here any time you'd like. ;<)

Just as a data point, Hunts Lodge is in the midst of an owner change, so it might be prudent to check first.

Playing around a bit more with routes. Enough for 6 days of entertainment. The marathon stage is 164 miles (Deal's Gap and back, cuz you know everybody wants a Killboy pic).

I’ve seen that spot before in that first picture. Any chance you share the details/coordinates?

This looks awesome! I'd love to join you on my ADV150. I ride it on the FS roads around here all the time.

But because I'm a bit of a bike whore, I just put it up for sale! :baldy Thinking about switching to the new PCX... decisions, decisions!

I know the area a BIT but look forward to learning some of your amazing routes! :clap

Thanks @klaviator for mentioning this ride!!
