Looking for routes, tracks, camping areas, cool sites, nice twisties, lots of dirt roads and some trail. Want to take a ride down in early October. I've never traveled in this direction before and I'm just starting my research so any tips are appreciated.

Here's my initial thoughts just looking at the map:

Start at Monogehela National Forest (WV)

Ride South George Washington and Jefferson National Forest (VA)

Some Thursday in October after work: Slab down to the Town of Aurora, WV just across the MD border. 5 hours on the slab via PATP.

Day 1: Ride into the Monogehela National Forest find camping for the night as far south as I feel to go.

Day 2: Ride down to the town of Frost, WV and enter George Washington and Jefferson Forest and ride as far south as I want to go

Day 3: Try to end up around the town of Wytheville, VA and ride the 7 hours home

The run from Seneca Rocks across Spruce Knob to Durbin is a must. They just paved the east side of the mountain this year or it would all be gravel/dirt. I have attached a run we just made, first leg of a seven day tour. We stayed at the 4u motel at the north end, note the beer run on the track log. Pretty nice trail just north of Alta, make sure you go in with SHARP knobs. The southern end is the center of the universe.........uh, home.

I am going with some friends this weekend and hope to spend all day Saturday and all day Sunday riding. (It's 6 hours from here in PA on Friday, and returning Monday)

We came up with these routes by doing a little research and copying some other posted files from here on AdvRider.

Any suggestions, sights to include, comments, etc. are most heartily welcomed and appreciated.

I will post some pictures and update our tracks next week after the trip.
We chose the Canaan Valley resort as our hotel / starting point.

Thanks in advance for any more info on the area.

Here is my latest and last creation.
I will let you know how the ride goes.

I'm certainly no expert on creating routes.
I don't really like the City Navigator software.
It crashes on me often and is difficult to edit once you have made a route.
The F@#%&* routing tool sometime insists on going where you don't want it to, no matter how many waypoints you put in.

Isn't there anything better out there?

How about a guided tour? :deal
I live in Canaan Valley and would be more than happy to point ya to a few fun rides.
PM me or stop by my shop in Parsons (accross from CJ's Pizza, blue Vstrom out front) I'm there from 8 to 5 most days.
Thanks in advance for visiting Tucker County, we need guys like you. :thumb

BTW- the deer factor in this area is extreme. Two state parks, a wildlife refuge, private wildlife conservation areas, resort developements....... all no hunting.:eek1

If you don't mind a relatively n00b at dual-sport tagging along, I'd love to join you. I used to do a lot of kayaking in that area and always loved the place.

Thanks much for the kind offer by Cliffhanger, PM sent.

FWIW: We're probably set on our routing, unless we get advice that it's crap, but you are welcome to tag along. We're planning on arriving by 5PM Friday and riding up to Blackwater Falls. Then Saturday is listed as DAY1 in the GPS file, and Sunday is the long day to Green Bank, Cass, Parsons, etc. (DAY2)

email me your phone number if you want me to call you while we are travelling down to WV, or once we get there.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

Can anyone provide waypoints for some Campgrounds? As many as possible. Please indicate if they are primative or not and also put any contact numbers within the waypoint info.

I'm planning a trip this summer, based out of the Circleville area, mainly runnin' 'round Grant, Hardy, Pendleton Counties. I grew up in Petersburg, and still have family there.

I'm not graced with a GPS, just a DeLorme...

    Cheers, Frank...
