AND THE GARAGE CLEANING CONTINUES ................................................

    Hey All,
I've decided to begin to sell some of my antique tool collection ............ I'll have several things to eventually sell, but for now let's start with these items. I used to display some of these tools, but I'm running short on space and it just makes sense to pass them on to someone else that will appreciate/display them.

It's nice to display these and be reminded about "where we came from" ............ as most of my levels now use batteries and lasers!

If any of you are interested in buying more than one of these tools, please get in touch.
Shipping will be my major cost.
If I could "bundle" a few of these items, then I'll discount the prices accordingly. :deal

Here's a "group shot" of most of what is being offered for sale:

FIRST UP: WOODEN DeFOREST JOINER PLANE
This is a real nice old plane in very good shape.
DeForest was considered one of the best plane building companies in the country.
They were based in Birmingham, CT
They started building planes around the 1840-1850 time period.
This one is probably from about 1860-1870 .......... Civil War era tool.
    It measures 3" x 3" x 21 3/4"
The Plane iron is stamped "Humphreysville Mfg.
According to archives, the Humphreysville Mfg. company manufactured these heavy laminated tapered plane irons from 1852 until 1874.
They originally had a 30 degree bevel so this one looks to be original and unmolested.

NEXT UP: STANLEY BAILEY #3 PLANE
This an all metal bench style smoothing plane.
These were made for 100 years, and they've not been made for several decades.
I'm thinking this one is probably from around 1920 as it has the "tall knob" on the front.

    It's 9 1/4" x 2 1/8".
As you can see from the photos, the rear grip has a chip out of it at the bottom.
This plane would be easy to tune up and use daily on the bench.

    NEXT UP: WOODEN JOINER PLANE
I can't find any markings on this plane.
It DOES NOT have a plane iron, chipper, or a wedge.
It's just the body/handle and only for decor.
The body has some interesting markings/profiles and would be easy to identify for a plane expert.
It could be cleaned up and gone over and still be pretty interesting looking.

NEXT UP: STANLEY #11 "BELT MAKERS PLANE"
This is one of the very few Stanley planes NOT made for wood working. :gerg
It was for planing leather belts used in industry and mechanical systems.
It is about 6" x 2 3/4" in size not including the handle.
Handles are typically made from Maple.
These were produced starting in 1865.
It has "Patent Applied for 1892" on the plane iron.
The adjustment knob is hard to turn and I never tried to force it since I was not going to use it to plane any leather belts. :D
These are not easy to find any longer, and not many in as nice of condition as this one.

Yours for .................................... $130 shipped CONUS.

UP NEXT: STANLEY "HANDYMAN" BLOCK PLANE
You know, I hardly consider this a vintage or collectable tool ........................ because I still use one very similar to it all the time. :lol3
My "Handyman" is a few years newer so it has a knob on the front.

It is an incredible little plane because it's so simple and it fits my paw perfectly.
It is one of my 2 "go to" planes in my trim toolbox along with a low angle block plane.

But I tend to forget that this is probably 60+ year old tool.
This one belonged to someone named "BOND" and that is scratched into it.
But it's not a rust bucket ....... still has nice original red and blue paint.

Yours for ............................................ $30 shipped CONUS.

    UP NEXT: MAYES 24" LEVEL
This is a Mayes 2' level made in Port Arthur, Michigan. USA
Mayes moved to TN in the mid 50s, so this level predates that.
    It measures 24" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/8".
It is a 3 window/ 4 bubble level. (one of the vials is dry, and one of the windows is missing)
Better for decor than for using as a level ...............................

Yours for ............................... $35 shipped CONUS
    NOW .................................... $32.50 shipped CONUS.
    NOW .................................... $30 shipped CONUS.

    UP NEXT: RUGOL BLOCK PLANE
Made in the USA. (strange as I always thought Rugol was a German company?)
Anyway, it is in nice shape, works as intended, and would make a nice addition to a toolbox or garage shelf.
Original paint and finishes. Not a rust bucket tool.
My guess is that this tool is probably from the 1950s-1960s.
I'd say it's not really vintage or collectable.
It came with a few other tools I bought 25 years ago.

    UP NEXT: DUNLOP 24" LEVEL
Here we have another level similar to the one above, except this is a DUNLOP.
    This is a 3 window/4 bubble 24" level.
All windows are intact and all vials work perfectly.
Dunlap was a brand that was owned by Sears and began in 1941.
It didn't last long, so you can date this level to right around WWII.
    This is a #3985 and measures 24" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/8".
A little soap and warm water wash and this would look even better.
Nice original paint and patina on this tool .......... good shape to be 70-75 years old.
More than I can say for my elderly ADV amigos! :lol3

UP NEXT: STANLEY BAILEY #6 PLANE
This is a nice large bench smoothing plane.
It is a desirable plane in very nice shape.
    It measures 18" x 3". Rosewood handles.
This is one of my more desirable planes that I'm selling.

Yours for .................................. $150 shipped CONUS

UP NEXT: MERIT TOOLS 28" LEVEL
    This is 28" x 2 3/8" x 1 1/8" wooden level
It is a 3 window, 6 bubble level.
All 6 bubbles work perfectly, but 2 of the round glass windows have gone missing.
It also has brass or brass plated protective metal end caps.
So this level, like the Dunlap level ........ is a Sears product.
Merit built mostly mechanics tools, but had some carpentry offerings.
My guess is that this is about a 1930-1940 vintage tool also.
Yours for ................................. $45 shipped CONUS.

NEXT UP: STANLEY WOODEN LEVEL #5
This would be either a Cherry or Rosewood body (cherry).
Stanley used both species for levels during this time.
It has all brass embellishments: heavy end caps, intact vials, 2 bubbles, and the original slotted screws.
    It's 28 5/16" long, 3 1/8" wide, and 1 3/8" thick.
This has a real nice patina and is in excellent condition.
Someone has probably brightened up the brass at some point ....... but not in the last 30 years.
You'd be hard pressed to find one this nice and in this good of condition.
Yours for ................. $140 shipped CONUS.
    NOW ...................... $135 shipped CONUS.

    UP NEXT:
    STANLEY WOODEN PLANE #32
    This is 26" long, 3 3/8" wide and 1 13/16" thick.
This is a pretty substantial joiner type plane. These are commonly referred to as "transitional planes" as it was what was common between the all wood planes ------ and the all metal planes.
Most of these were made of Beechwood.
The #32s were produced from 1869 to 1935.
This one is a nice complete working plane in great condition with a nice patina.
I've never used it, but it wouldn't take much to set it up, adjust it, and make it operable.

Yours shipped CONUS for ................... $150.

NEXT UP: KEEN KUTTER #6 SMOOTHING PLANE
Here's a classic collectable! Not many of the KK #6 out there.
    Keen Kutter 17 3/4" x 2 3/4" smoothing plane with a nice corrugated bed.
This one has rosewood handles and is in pretty nice shape for a near 100 year old plane.
Keen Kutter planes were made from 1874 until 1940 when they were bought out.
The "KK" series were desirable and made for Keen Kutter by the Ohio Tool Company.
This plane should date from around the 1920s. The planes up to the teens only had one "K".
This one has the original tapered (thickened) plane iron. Very rugged.
(I do believe that the rear handle had been chipped and then sanded a little as the profile looks a little different than another that I've seen. And the lateral adjuster has a twist in it that I do not think is original although some Stanleys are built like that? I never wanted to
straighten is as it would probably end up in 2 pieces.)

UP NEXT: STANLEY WOODEN LEVEL #0
    This level is 28" long x 2 13/16" wide x 1 1/4" thick.

As you can see this level is still made of cherry, but it doesn't have the brass embellishments.
This is more of a blue collar model. The bubble surrounds were painted black to cut glare.
The vial protector plate was painted black as well. But it's still a 2 bubble model and both vials are intact..
Someone named "Burke" once owned it ...........
This isn't as snazzy as the other levels, but it's still in nice shape with a good original patina.

Yours for .......................... $75 shipped CONUS.
    NOW ................................ $70 shipped CONUS.

    Beautiful tools!
I think the market is divided in 3 ,collectors who are very informed of what ot get and what is value , dealers who offer almost nothing, and wood workers who enjoy using old school tools.
That does not leave much room for resale, how ever the experience you get from using a chisel, hand plane, hand saw is wonderful ,if they are sharp!
Anyway, hope the younger generation pics up on this,[some do] good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply delftvanp!

To be candid, I've been awfully surprised that these tools have not generated a lot more interest here on ADV?
Every other time that I've sold tools and collectibles here, they've been snatched up very quickly. :scratch
Most of what I have is not uncommon ........... but there are a few pieces that you just don't see very often.
I have some friends and family that are into such things ........ maybe it'll "be a good Christmas" for them! :lol3
