So ,what do you suggest? Give up riding on the street? (got a few track day friends who have.) Avoid traffic? Try to.
There are inherent risks in getting out of bed in the morning. (studies show that 100% of people that get out of bed in the morning die!)

Yes and once you have moved away from town you only have to watch out for the deer, elk, drunks and meth heads - piece of cake.

After flinging myself a few thousand times out of an airplane, as has been said before, focus on where you want to go, target fixation kills more in both sports than anything else.

Things I wish I hadn't learned by experience:
Armor All has no business on motorcycle tires.
Shorts, a T-shirt and a helmet is not sufficient safety gear.
Using a scrub brush to get the gravel out of your arms and legs is painful.

Ouch! Experienced that first hand in ‘78. Guy backed out of his driveway . I went across the hood. Landed on my chin.
Would not have needed the ambulance ride or ER visit if I’d been wearing the new Bell star helmet I left in favor of the really cool Capt. America open face helmet . Full face were to hot.
Sometimes ya just gotta learn the hard way.

You start out with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck runs out.

My friend did that. He landed in shit. Fresh manure. I rode past a farm spraying shit through a big sprinkler, it hit me.

No matter what you do, you hit shit.

When you are standing on the foot pegs you are actually steering the bike with your foot pegs. Study the dynamics of that “articulated gyro“ you are riding.

. Having to chase your friends is monotonous... you lose that “big picture” and a pile up is inevitable.

Moose are the salt of the earth - and nearly invisible at night. Never mess with a moose.
