Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of responses, been busy with other parts and development. Now for an update... I have had one out in the field for testing, but our in house testing revealed that while 6061 Aluminum does fine on the front axle socket, I didn't like the wear patterns established after 20 uses. So we moved the rear socket to a tougher alloy, 7075. Really means nothing to most end users, just know that it will wear better than 6061! I'll post up pics of the rear socket and pricing in the next week or so. Thanks for your patience! This one will be $38.50. I have a small batch complete and ready to ship. I also have a few of the fronts available still at $32.50. Thanks a bunch guys! And yes, I'll ship out of the US too.
As mentioned in the V85 thread I was the test mule for the rear wheel socket and got the test one for free after sending measurements to Don for him to work with. Here are both the Stelvio/V85 front axle tool on the left with the V85 rear axle tool on the right along with the associated sized sockets I had to carry with me in order to take the wheels off out on the road if need be. Don's stuff is so much lighter than those sockets it isn't even close, together they probably weigh less than that 1/2 to 3/8th's adapter. Some other views of the two items with a 13mm socket for scale. Front axle tool in place on a V85. And the rear tool ready to get to work. Don was kind enough to give me the prototype and will send me a finished tool as well but other than that I will not be getting any money or other compensation. I also bought the front end tool for my own use prior to helping Don with the measurements for the rear axle. They both work great and save a ton of weight and space by replacing those large sockets in the tool kit.
Thanks Otter, and thanks for working with me on the initial development of the V85 Socket. It was also awesome for me to see it on the bike in Death Valley! Since there isn't one anywhere near me to test out! Also I'll attest to Otters statement that he is not a compensated spokesperson. Although he'd make a good one! Also, I can only hope that no small animals or children were harmed in testing at the Chaos test lab! None were harmed at the Control test lab, I can attest to that! Seriously though, thanks a bunch for your help on this!
I've got several PM's, thanks guys! Crazy day at work, shorthanded. I'll reply to everyone's PM's later today!
