Hey @aftCG ...I know a guy!
I think there's a guy up north who's good with metal!!
But although an official Dons1911 kit would be very cool, why don't you just use a couple of 2cm aluminium spacers. I got these for a couple of Euro. I think with a proper wall thickness they aren't really less stable than a one piece solution. It's rock solid on mine.
Well, sadly my trip draws to a close! I put about 3500 miles on my bike since unloading it at Ken's in the 8th. And added 4 states to it's territory for a total of 12 states and 20k miles since buying it new in March of '19. I did spend about 100 miles this morning riding around my old stomping grounds here in Henderson, or HenderTucky as we know it! Headed to the frozen north tomorrow morning. The weather at home is sure to keep me off my bike for a few weeks...#@$&*!!! Here is a pic from my run around Lake Mead today...
Whats few weeks...oil change, new tires, valves and back on the road nice view
Lucky Bugger! Glad you had more time to horse around. Drive safe home!
Some clown on a Stelvio tailgating me! I can't seem to shake him!
I finally got him off my bumper, but he crashed in my driveway!!! LOL
All is good. I got home at 5 AM this morning, unloaded and cleaned everything up. Nap time now!
I'll post pics from Death Valley and Big Bend tomorrow! Great trip!
Wow that sucks -- though it looks like no major damageanf evidently you came away unscathed too !!
Glad to see you made it home, but dagnabbit Don, Green Goose decided it wanted to flip in your driveway.. Can't wait for the other pic's!
What did you do Don1911?
You had to be a sissy and use a ramp. Just have someone hop in the cab and gun it while you sit on the bike
Come on Don! Didn't we have the "ladder" talk in DV? And what's that white crap all over the ground???? I figured you, aftCG and Flying Frisian wouldn't be putting a lick on your bikes until after the freeze! My knees hurt just looking at that stuff!
I knew you'd comment on the ladder Mooney! The good news is no stitches required!!! LOL Seriously, while backing the bike out of the bed, the strap I tied the racks to the truck with slipped off and the rack I was walking on dropped me like a bad habit! I was able to land on my feet and control or rather ease the bikes descent. It rained all day and my WeatherTech Bed Liner was slicker than owl snot and the front tire washed out as I went down laying the bike on its side. I stood where the ladder is holding the bike for about 15 minutes. That's how long it took me to call my son, him to leave work and come get that ladder out of my garage and put it under my bike. Otherwise the back end would have dropped to the concrete. We were able to re-secure the ramps, stand the bike up and walk it out as I had originally planned. Seems no damage occurred. Pretty lucky.
The Take Away's...
Wait for your son. He was getting off work early and coming over to hang out and talk about my trip. I thought if I unloaded the bike, we would have more time to just hang out. Selfish.
Get some better ramps. These are actually ATV Ramps that I borrowed from my daughters boyfriend. I was gonna buy some Black Widow folding ramps but thought I'd use these for our DV trip and decide if I really need them. I've decided...I really need them!
Get a spray on bed liner. Need more gription under foot, especially when moving a Stelvio around in a short bed GMC Sierra!
Pay closer attention when a grown up Boy Scout like @aftCG is teaching you how to tie really awesome knots!
DON'T post a pic that includes a ladder in it to a thread that @Mooney 78865 is watching!
Move someplace that it doesn't snow!!!
LOL! Too funny! You made my morning!
I’ve been sitting here for 10 minutes staring at my screen saver, daydreaming.... Bubba is having this pic “tinned” so I can rearrange my garage around it. This pic by aftCG really captures the whole feel of the weekend.
Except for that damn Honda.
It does look pretty though, puts a little color in the picture.
I see your picture and raise you a Turkish coffee and a new rear brake disc!
OHHHH! I felt that one coming! LOL!!
I'll keep my trap shut! I still like ya! Coffee does look signifyingly above average!
Alright, I'm getting myself a cup of coffee while I wait for @Dons1911 to post his pictures and @aftCG to upload another video. Darn @Dracula with his coffee picture makes me want some, not a Turkish coffee, just some Italian stuff.
