Can anyone help me locate a rental bike in Panama? I am looking to rent a dual sport motorcycle, 650CC or less, in Panama beginning March 26, 2008 throught April 2, 2008.

I have not been able to connect with ACS Motorcycle tours and rentals - Panama ( http://www.acs-panama.com/ ). I have left emails but haven't gotten a reply and also no one answers the telephone.

Are there any other rental companies or private rentals in Panama I could contact?

    Thanks for your help!

The only place I've heard of is located near El Cameron resort, near Coronado, about an hour west of Panama City, but sorry- I don't know the name.

You might be better off just buying a bike, then selling it before you leave, something in the 250cc range.

You won't find anything close to 650ccs. 250 or smaller is an awful lot more common. PM me anytime.

Also try asking TC, over at Panama Bikers http://www.advrider.com/forums/member.php?u=69737

He doesn't have bikes for rent, but he'll know where to send you.

Salcar may have some advice for you. He rents them in Nicuragua, maybe he knows someone in Panama?

In Panama ACS Motorcycle Tours rents motorcycles (KTM 640 Adventure) - for more info visit www.acs-panama.com . E-mail at info@acs-panama.com . If all else fails call directly at 507 6694-8226 - this is a mobile number - 507 is the country code, to dial from the US I believe you dial 011 507 6694-8226. Check out their Central America Tour....

    Hope this helps.

The ACS Motorcycle Tours website was working when I looked, probably late spring of '08, but it was gone when I checked for it last week.

I then sent an email, but that was returned as undeliverable after several days.

Looks as if they have gone out of business.

I will not use Panama- ACS moto rental again. The bike I was provided was junk and no support from the rental company. Then they changed the rental agreement once I was down there. Hopefully they are out of business.

Found this thread- thanks to some sharp-eyed fellow ADV riders- it appears
    they are back in business:

    http://www.acs-panama.com/terms_and_conditions_for_rentals.htm

Anyone have any recent experience with them? I'm headed to Panama City in 3 weeks and hoping to not repeat some of the other folks' bad experiences.

Not everything available in Panama is available on the Internet, especially if you're searching in english. It's best to just go there, then ask around. There are actually many motorcycle shops. Renting a big bike will cost more than a 250, but you'll get into a lot more trouble with a 250.

I suggest asking TT at Panama Bikers. He knows everything.

I can't speak with authority about the condition of ACS's bikes but...
There I was with a week off in Panama. I emailed Taso of ACS about a walk in bike rental. No problem. And then it starts.
He has no address so he will deliver to my hostel
It is "hectic" today. I will be in touch
The credit card machine has failed
Will you give me $1000.00 cash as the damage deposit? Since the CC machine is dead
    Day 2
Still waiting on the CC machine
    Still waiting.

I finally get my phone to work and try calling Taso
    Voice mail
A couple more emails back and forth

    Day 3
Email to Taso that if I dont get a bike by 10am I'm renting a fucking car

    Day 4,5.6
Having an air conditioned blast ripping around Panama in a Toyota Yaris

Yes it was dissappointing to not get a bike but it rains hard every day here and it's hotter then hell along the Pacific coast so...oh well.:cry

    +1!

And you get pretty good mileage if you rent a diesel!

A couple of weeks ago, as much as I wanted a motorcycle, I was really glad I had a/c.
