Builders amaze me. When I look at a job that needs doing, my eyes glaze over with the sheer difficulty of the job ( and cost), but when a builder comes in it is just no worries, and it's finished in no time, and at a lot less than at my uneducated guess. Pays to leave some stuff to the pro's.
Yep. Anything I undertake usually requires several days of procrastination, thinking about the best way to do it. Research, youtube etc etc. Half way through the job I usually discover a better way
Look at this photo, the level of detail is outstanding. The cedar trim has a cedar packing plate under, but instead bringing it out to the same width of the trim plate, which is what I would have done, the builder thought of a better solution. He cut the packing plate narrower in width so when the trim plate was fitted there is a gap from the vertical boards about the same gap between the boards. It also makes the door and window look like it is suspended in air floating off the wall. Really cool look.
The only thing that could impress me more with that level of craftsmanship is if those vertical facings had weather groves behind them. You got some quality chippies there MrK
Yesterday took some friends out in the Ute on the roads I normally ride. Much more bumpier in the Ute One of my favourite pic spots Then headed out on the wet gravel roads. Ute got a bit dirty. Spent today painting. The front of the house looking very cool...
I took the V85 out for a ride on Saturday. Headed to my local cafe for a coffee and muffin to get started and then rode for four hours. Made a pleasant change from painting! The roads were wet for the first bit, then nice an dry. The muffin was fresh out of the oven, delicious
House renovations are into the last phase, except for painting. I can see many weekends of painting in store for me. By the time I finish I will have painted the whole outside outside of the house and most of the inside. The last of the windows got done last week. This one we enlarged, it is in the small bedroom which MrsKiwi uses as her TV room (to watch all those annoying soaps I disklike!). The larger window gives a nice view to the harbour. original... New ... This week the deck gets completed. This time next week it will be all done. The plasterer turned up yesterday to begin plastering the inside. That will all need painting at some point!
Thanks. They did all the fidly picture framing and edging bits today. I'll now wait until it is laid before posting again, as then I can show before and after pics. The builder is a fussy guy, he likes to do it right, which pleases me no end. I'm looking forward to doing some riding, this building / painting gig is taking up all my spare time.
thanks for posting the progress pics MrK. Have enjoyed following along....and love your technical speak "fidly picture framing and edging bits"
