Could you reccommend which display is more handgloves friendly ?
Fodsports has capacitive one and Prolech has a resistive display.
I have a normal leathher gloves which have no special capacitive touch areas.

Resistive works with all gloves, capacitive requires specific gloves . Resistive needs a firmer touch .

So is the concensus now that the new 1gb with 16gb storage 5" is good enough for prime time instead of sinking money into a Garmin or other motorcycle specific gps? What is the current recommendation?

My recommendation: Buy a rugged smartphone. I am very content with the Ulefone Armor 5.

    Hi,
I'm still using the MT5001 after changing the display.
I resolded all cables and changed some of them with "softer" cables.
One of the pins (ground or 12V) was totally disconnected (cable/soldering point broken)
    As navigation apps I'm using
    Navigator https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mapfactor.navigator
    and
    Kurviger https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gr.talent.kurviger.pro
    without any problem.
OSMAND just "kills" the device with its heavy energy consumption, at least an older version. Did not test the newest versions.
I also have a CAT S60 which has a lot of GPS problems (signal loss)

On my device (1 GB RAM) Osmand+ runs fine. My sons and I use the device quite often.

I have the mt5002; pretty ok when first playing with it.

Did anybody succeed in changing the default "home app"?
    - It is very annoying that I can not use one that is configurable
    - I want it -at least- to start a different navigation app than iGo...

    Any updates from users?

I have the Karadar MT5001 . Sure its not the fastest but it works .

My issue is the power coming on and off when in the mount (gives the warning to stay on or power off). Usually it will rattle and stay on without me having to tap it. But, it has done the count down and shut off on me while riding.

Any idea where to look for the loose connection?

Are the springs on the pins not strong enough for off road vibrations? The mount looks sealed. I had planned on opening it up and touching up the solder points. But, it look like I'd have to break it to access the wires??
