Subscribed Say Hi to Jules for us!
Will do! She is following in two weeks when the bike is sorted out and I’ve got my bearings again! Super excited to be escaping the Prison Island Oz has become! It really is Mum’s Last Gift! Say hi to M back from us both. Miss you guys and the whole North American continent in fact!
Well I think I’m out! All my paperwork was accepted and, other than the MASSIVE crisis of all the bars being closed, I am “airside”. This is an adventure back to the rest of the open world!
The cat was excited I was going!
I got to ride in a taxi! Across the city!!
There is only about 50 people flying but the airport still managed queues!
Not bad for 6 months away, as it has riding gear and 4! litres of wine in it!
Oh, another queue!!
Just out of Dubai now! Portugal tonight!
Love it when I see my bag!
Heading out of Lisbon...
With my mate Paulo!
My first evening in Faro. Jet lag not too bad so I wondered down to a little craft ale place for a glass or two of BOTD rehydration. I’ve missed my Beer Of The Day posts!
Believe it or not they have Lagunitas IPA on tap. Then a street cafe for a Spanish ale and some garlic prawns! Food of the Gods!!
Unfortunate branding in these Covid times!
Slept a full 10 hours!
What a perfect day to wake up to!
Let’s go find my bike!
That is everything I love about beer!
It’s always worth waiting for!
Bison lives and is very full of very expensive dive euro gas!!
I had to go and have a some did lunch of fish roe, garlic clams, eel and razor clam rice to celebrate and to thank my beautiful friends who have looked after the bike for the last 19 months. She started first touch of the button!
A little reacquaintance ride tomorrow, full service on Monday, then we ride for real!
What fun. Off now to take some photos of old Faro for your enjoyment!

Pretty little town with plenty of street art and life.
And a few more ...
The light was working so nicely tonight. It’s so nice to be able to enjoy warm nights and such great day time weather.
The architecture here is wonderful with a real mix of highly restored and cared for and dilapidated and run down.
Bike pics tomorrow!
Hi cuisine tonight!
‘Penal Colony’ FFS
It Certainly has drifted towards police state down our way in Sydney! Glad to be out of that mess whilst the Covid dust settles and before the inevitable fallout between States, Territories and the Federal governments!
I’m very happy to drink 1 euro beers and ride some great roads with old friends as I work my way back to the UK and close up Mum’s affairs.
The world’s an odd place right now!
Ever seen the film? "Ice Cold in Alex". I first saw it when I was about twelve (so, 45 years ago). F*****g fantastic. The whole plot is John Mills escaping the Gerries so he can get back to a pub in Alex (Alexandria) where they serve a lager ice cold. It lost the BAFTA to "Room at the Top".
I’ll have to and search that one out. Plenty of dark cold long winter nights coming my way once we get to UK!
You're kidding me? Never seen it? BBC2 has had John Mills and Kenneth More films on heavy rotation since VE day! LOL
In America, Americans chopped it up and changed the title and all 'round ruined it. Great WWII film that oddly is in a desert, with only memories of England's pleasant pastures seen. The funny thing? I made my first post whilst watching "Bridge on the River Kwai" on the television (it won the BAFTA, the next year).
