So we left the. If city this morning to head to Evora via Sintra, two places in opposite directions!

It was Julie’s first day in the Ike in a while and we had a shit ton too much stuff with us! I think not packing camping gear plus the recovery of the bike after its covid enforced holiday has meant we have a little too much with us! We found a Decathalon store and found a new 40 l dry bag, so I think we’ll look a bit less like refugees and be waterproof!

Sintra is a very nice but touristy town. A couple of very good palaces and lots of stunning architecture.

We the came cross country to Evora. Again a pretty walled town. I’m not sure the wife will be strong enough for photos as were in a beautiful old farmhouse tonight which is very lovely!

The Palace at Sintra. The two big structures are the chimneys from the kitchen! Like a giant tagine!

    Quite the bathroom!

We then took a crazy little road that wound its way to the palace at the top of the hill. the Pena Palace. The ride was cool but a massive crowd and low cloud meant we bailed. It will keep for another day!!

The road up was very nice, tight, tree lined and windy!

After Sintra we crossed back across Lisbon to leave by the massive bridge some 10-15km long! The Vasco Da Gama bridge. Quite a feat of engineering!

The run to evora was uneventful. First impressions are of a nice little town with lots of history.

We tucked the bike away just outside the city walls...

We also have to check out neighbour who almost took me out as he “Toad of Toad Halled” down the long gravel drive in this beauty! He has a collection so we’ll take pics tomorrow!!

Apparently he has raced the Paris Dakar and seems to be quite a good bloke!

The drive in was nice with freshly shaved cork trees lining the route!

Ah you have a good eye! Yes she has assumed tail gunner and rear photography duties again! And she has a better. Ore recent iPhone than me! I really must upgrade!

The farm stay is surrounded by amazing very old olive, oak and cork trees. The morning light was stunning but hard to capture!

The trees are heavy with olives. There are also lots of delicious persimmon fruits perfectly ripe and many citrus trees. The place makes or grows most of the food served so breakfast is delicious!

Cork trees. Amazingly you have to wait 25 years to grow and then harvest every 9 years! It’s only on the 3rd harvest the cork is any good! You plant the trees for the benefit of your for your kids or grandkids!

The number on the tree denotes the year the cork was cut! This was done this year which is why the tree looks so red.

Well, this morning we got to visit the car museum! Wow that’s a shed I could own!

I’ll let my pictures do the talking! There is a bit of serious money here!

I was torn between the e type, EK, and the Austin Healy 4 L. As Pedro the owner said, a perfectly balanced machine!

Thanks for your support. It is a great motorcycling country and easy to spend a few weeks here.

This morning we said farewell then rode out to some standing stones. Now en-route to Monchique.
