    Cherkessk

I could walk with one crutch now and I wanted to see this town. I found it pretty beautiful in some places.

We visited a base of Search & Rescue Service, where Gennadiy is working. Rescuers tried to start this cool new chinese ATV. They could make it. Well, not right away, of course :-)

By the way, a month later Gennady became the best diver of Search & Rescue service of the republic. Bikers are not good only in moto affairs :-)

    Day 41-42

It's time to go back home. Comfortable shuttle for my motorcycle and me :-)

But adventures didn't leave us. Our bus began to stray from the direct trajectory. The rear tire was flat. It was very interesting to turn off these stubborn nuts in the dark. But the star sky was beautiful, same as it was in the first day of my long trip :-)

We stopped for the night at this pleasant house

Small breakfast and we are continuing moving

And on the second day I arrived to Moscow. My long-suffering bike is parked in a garage

What a great ride report! Years ago, my mom said, "When life deals a lemon, make lemonade." You certainly know how to do that! Thanks for taking me along for the ride and I wish you a speedy recovery!

I'm glad to see that the riders solidarity does still mean something in your country. I'm afraid it's fading away in europe ...
Nowaday, try to find some friends ready to pay to rent a van and come to pick you up with your bike 1500 km away. Really, congratulations, the western world still has some lessons to learn.
Thank you for sharing your story and your pictures from this part of the world, of wich we don't see some very often. :thumb

If you read the ride reports here on ADV or watch the videos of Lolo Cochet when he is in Russia, the same with Eric Lobo, you can see that not only the solidarity is real but also as it as been mentioned in some reports, will you provide at home the same solidarity that you received here on the road?
I mean will you open your house for an unknown Russian biker on a trip in Europe?...
    Sadly we know the answer...

I can't say that it is in Russia at every turn. And we have this sad trend to individualization too. But we can keep this spirit of a brotherhood from the origin to the future

Some of us here still have this spirit of brotherhood, but it's up to us the elders to teach it to the youngers before it vanishes into the air, because soon the riders will be as selfish as motorists.
Yet in 1997 (woaw ... 20 years ago) I was stuck on the shoulder of a main road on the southern suburb of Paris area. My old 750 Super Tenere fully loaded, as I was heading back to Brittany from The Vosges. My front sprocket had ripped out of the shaft, grinding the threads, and the nut was lost. Impossible to fix on place, but fortunately I had an assistance contract and the cell phones were already invented. So waiting for the tow truck for nearly 2 hours, nothing else to do but sit on the safety barrier and look at the traffic. I couldn't say how many dozens of bikes passed-by, all waving to say hello, only one stopped to ask if I needed some help. One in a 2 hour time. You understand why I'm still amazed to see such a level of help in your country, even if of course i'm convinced everyone may not help, but for those who do, congratulations.

Sans déconner ... !!! :beer Reading some of yours posts I was guessing you were French, but Breton, wow what a surprise !
I have read a lot of RR about Russia (Doug, Walter Colebatch ... for the most famous) and I followed Eric Lobo's trip on FB last year. It's fantastic to see the help they received from people who were not bikers at all but just good people wanting to help some guys in deep sh*t. I will search for Lolo Cochet.
On my own, no doubt I would open my door, because it's me and because I'm like that.

Nice to see how this turned out. I'm off to read your current report now. Hopefully you find nice people again, but without the hospital stay!
