and they don't know how to do insurance?.......that's quite odd of them. They take bikes ALL over the World for product launch.....even the good old USA. Then have motojournalists ride the shit out of them in varied conditions.

One would think that Ducati Spain should have any ability to arrange with Ducati USA either insurance for the USA or loan or rental demo bike for you IN the US if you are doing some sort of publicity work for them. They seem to do that for Moto journalists regularly

Better yet before any more such planning exercises , have your own bike , properly registered in your name or arrange one to pick up in USA and you might avoid a lot of hassles

Fernet gives full coverage on all bikes and nationals contact them, and you can proceed with the journey.

This are two of the various answers they had. All of them in the same terms:

"You musy be the titled/registered owner of the motorcycle by the date this policy goes into effect.
This policy will not provide coverage for a borrowed, rented or corporate owned motrocycle."

"Unfortunately, yes, this is true. The company would have to insure you as a rider for their bike.
If the motorcycle was registered to an individual, then we could get you insured as a rider. With it being registered to the company, the carriers won’t insure individual riders."

As the bike is a corporate bike and I am not a resident in the US they dont insure us.
    We wont expect that

Unfortunatelly Ducati USA doesn't have any interest in this trip.
Anyway, I have a nice bike and a budget for a nice trip. I'm looking for another destination, probably a trip thru Italy, Croatia, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Romania... USA can wait for another year.

I'm sure that sooner or later you will hear again about me :beer

    Hi eakins!

My problem is that I'm very promiscuous. I love ALL bikes. I have also a nice KTM990 and borrow the Multistrada :D
    Thanks for the links.
As this time I can't come I will save the links for the next. It will be nice to come with the WR to ride a more adventurous track
    Next year? :evil

Well, it makes sense to ride wherever Ducati will loan you a bike, and those destinations are pretty amazing. The USA will still be here next year...we hope. :D

Sorry about the cancellation, if and when you make it to the US, you have to visit Arizona. If I can help with AZ related travel or questions let me know!

I thought large corporations were mostly "self insured"? as are many rich folks too. Seems like the OP has a beneficial MC friend...:lol2 and problems many of us would enjoy!:-)

I actually got him a quote from a fine insurance company. We hadn't ironed out the details and then he tells me Ducati backed out. There is always a way. There were some 'ownership' questions and challenges to overcome.....but hey....if all great things were easy everybody would be having great things all the time. Oh well. He'll no doubt have a good ride some place else on a Ducati............actually for this cost of insurance I could have gotten him a rental Ducati right here in Los Angeles......YES....there is a place you can rent a DUC!
