There is the tunnels, which I wanted to ride through and the parking area is by the river and is beautiful. I have pics of it with a different bike.

Nice to see the pics of your continued voyages.
I went to a dealer and checked out the CTX 13000 Deluxe: first time to see it in person. REAL nice bike. Comfortable, neutral riding position. Handlebar seems really wide, but I am assuming one gets used to this. Aesthetics: to me the bike looks much better in person than online pics. With the discounts, it has a sticker of $12,499: heck of a deal!

I have added it to my short-list (I am "between bikes" right now, looking to get back in).

Thanks. I feel I need to pay back some for those who helped me when I had cabin fever. Or those who can just dream. Whatever you get, come back and post a link to it. I enjoy reading/viewing pics of all bikes.
That's how I became an owner. I was shopping for another bike after the last 3 didn't measure up after mileage. When I saw it on the floor in person, I couldn't believe how much better it looked than the pictures. I sat on it. 3 days later it was in my garage. Only that long because I had to wait for black.

I had followed this train a few miles, decided to get ahead and take his pic at the next crossing. Just a fraction 2 early on the pic, but not too bad:

I stopped for fuel on Ouray. Several bikes pulled up behind me to fuel up. All of us had different bikes. Mine being the only street bike of course. But all of us had the same helmet, just different color. They were riding Imogene pass. I told 'em I don't think my CTX would handle it.
They all agreed. I then said (without smiling) my scooter could handle it. None of them took the bait. It was still a great day.

    Great thread, Mr Clampett!

That's a fine-looking bike, and it's great to see it being used as its designers intended.

No beary pillion on your recent jaunt?

    Thanks Gromit01,
My bride had me take take the little bunny, thus in the event of kidnapping, she'd not suffer the loss as great. Funny, that is the most popular question I've had from friends and family also. Haha.

Dog gone, rassle frassle, gosh durn, Jiminey Cricket ......I gotta get out and take some more photos. I'm not sure if I should blame it on forums in general. Seems I spend more money farkling when I'm home than I do traveling.
New mud flap, new mini boards, new GPS, new Ram Mounts, new....well, you get the gist. And now 2 guys show me the new Corbin seat for the CTX. I can't win. When I'm out riding alone, I spend a little on fuel and supplies.
Another thing, I don't understand all these thank you letters from the CEO's at Visa/Master Card...could someone explain that to me. Good thing I have a 2nd source of income (Casino hehehehe...<---Ok, I do win some).
Holding off on the Corbin(How to those people reach through the computer and get hold of my wallet?). Panda is getting restless. Brown Bear just stares at me when I walk by.
BTW Gromit01, my brother scared my mom the other day. He told her he had spotted a bear here in Alabama. She was freaking out(we do live w-a-y out), until he told her they were riding with me....:rofl

I must admit, I love the stuffed bear passenger. It's the kinda wacky thing I would do just to put a smile on people's faces (especially kids)

A few pics I took playing tag games. Funny how you can live somewhere and still know very little about things around you.
Betcha didn't know about this historic music place in Alabama. "Danny Boy", "You've Made Me So Very Happy", "Superstar", etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3614_Jackson_Highway
2 miles before I get here, a little cloud cried on us. Panda didn't care, just kept looking at the door waiting for a star to come out.

Alright Uncle Jed -let's have the dope

    1. What don't you like about your bike?

    2. What do you wish it could do more?

P.S. you sold us on it 2 pages back for better or worse

I don't like the mirrors. And the stock windshield.
I have an extra set of mirrors to mount on the bar mounts. I use them when traveling sometimes. They are the 10mm mounts and have plastic plugs so you can put whatever you want on instead of using the fairing mirrors.
The optional tall shield is good.
I like the stock seat better than the VTX or VT but it isn't as comfortable as a Corbin or the Gold Wing. The stock seat did good on my 3600 miles in 5.5 days.
But I want more. I've ordered a Corbin for this bike.
Now another thing that bugs some people is the side opening bags instead of top opening. They are ok for me, but one of our forum members has already replaced the bags. I put shelves in mine.
The main thing I wish more of is distance. I wish it had about 2 more gallons of fuel in the tank. Most riders will be happy with the 200+ miles per tank. I want 300+!!!
With the exception of the windshield, all the complaints are minor. Some that kept the shorty windshield have added a laminar lip to the top (like the X-screen).
Main thing is: I love :crash this bike!!!!!

Me and Brown Bear riding in Bankhead Forest on a forest road. Panda don't like the forest roads. Brown Bears like the forest.
All you can see is the small white rope and the small yellow sign on the right, but about 10 yards out is a cemetery with about 10? graves.
The only marking besides standing rocks is a small iron pipe cross that has painted on it: Holmes Chapel Cemetery.
The intense stare on Brown Bears face implies there is a bee hive near with honey but I think her belly is full already.

Im surprised the CTX never really caught on. It might not look great on paper but this is a great great touring bike. I love mine.

Just got caught up... didn't have time for much for a couple of weeks there (had to actually get work done, and now I'm working on the 'honey-doos' that I didn't doo this summer) to read on the forums. Thanks for the pics, etc. Wish I'd known you were gonna be out as far as Colo this month, I probably could have made a long weekend over there.

I don't think I'm up for one any time soon, but a CTX might have to be in C17's future. A search sure isn't showing many used ones. Know anyone that wants to trade a R1100RT, PC800, and a few sheckels for one? It sounds like you have your finger on the pulse of the owners out there. Let us know if one comes up for sale.

Your brother ain't gonna have a bit of problem selling the PC and prolly make a profit. He can probably do alright with the R1100RT on the flea market here.
We have one used one for sale in MD on the forum for $8500 obo by a retired police officer. Lots of goodies. All the others have sold or traded that didn't like it.
IF brother is interested in that one, let me know and I'm pm you his for sale post on the CTX1300 forum.
As far as my trip...I tried to plan it...put the route into the GPS and within 6 hours was off course...correcting....correcting.
I never know where/when I'll be somewhere. That's why my bride has me check in each night, just so she knows the general area I'm in.
Maybe next summer if you visit little brother again or I make it out west again, I'll pm you first.
I've also found that if my brother (or anyone else for that matter) rides with me, I'm more likely to follow the itinerary.

For the life of me I don't understand why Honda (and others in sure) will build excellent bikes and put small tanks on them. The one bike they got right was the ST1300, with its large double tanks it has great range. I would usually stop for fuel around 285-315 miles.

    Man I miss that bike.

Is it one of you FFs I see commuting the other way? I usually pass you going the other way on 93 somewhere between Golden and Boulder on your red CTX.

Ok, a warning for some of you guys. I had my monitor so it was in full view of My Girl. I was doing a Goolge Street View of a mountain road in Oregon and she starts to purr. I think she actually started to dance a little with those new shoes she has on.
Yeah, I would have named her Herbie, but that would have been strange name for a girl. Got her attention off the monitor by showing her the new Battery Tender, GPS mounts, and Ram Mounts I just bought her. Good thing females are distracted by jewelry.
Went for an 11 mile ride. Nothing to take pics of. Bunny jumped off the bike when I wasn't looking. Found her 4 hours later when I took mom to the store. She was sitting in the grass just like any other bunny. Mom would be upset with me if she knew about this.
Anyhoo, I turned the monitor at an angle so My Girl can't see it and she is much calmer now. Young women are so temperamental. I guess you could just call her my "Trophy Bike" :jack
