    Man,
you really know your stuff when it comes to the KTM.
    I have a question, I bought a KTM 950 adventure lc8 2005 bike.
Iv been on it just over a week ago and it ran fine but I started it a few days ago to keep the battery charged and it stated fine with the choke on and after switching choke off it stopped as it was still cold, but when I stared it the second time I could hear a clicking sound coming from the engine.
would you have any idea whats making that noise and is it safe to start it again?
    any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't believe this post is over nine years old and only got one like. An adventure bike in the fast group with street bikes is nothing short of badass.

Is it cold there? Maybe it will quit when it warms up.

There were no such thing as “likes” until a couple of years ago. And that wasn’t a bad thing either. Next we will have pokes, then fake news.

That was the morning after returning from a 10,000+ mile trip. I returned home just before midnight, grabbed my valuables and went to bed. I already knew she was leaking but when I came out and found the bike sat like that all night, I was amazed.

Luckily where I live, it was pointing into the general direction of the wind.

To continue the off topic tangent, years ago I came back out from inside a gas station to find someone had backed into the right side of my old GSX1100 and then taken off. There was a small scratch on the right side, but the telltale was a six inch long scratch in the concrete to the right of my sidestand foot. I doubt a 9x0 would have survived and stayed upright...probably would be laying on its side in a bloodbath of oil with a chunk missing from the engine case.

Yeah I started with the BDCW relocator but wasn’t happy that it still partly put some load on the engine, so replaced it with CJs bracket, as well as a Roundoz Engineering adjustable length sidestand to change the angle. The latter came in pretty handy when I lengthened her suspenders (ooh).

I came back from trash pick up to find my beast taking a nap. I'm not sure if someone hit or the bad pavement gave way. The side stand was still fully extended, the steel bracing did it's job. Next time I'll remember to zip my tank bag :([IMG]

I basically live on my bikes so the tank bags end up with lots of junk in them.

    Hey guys,

Fantastic thread. a one stop shop for 950 info. I have to ask if there is anyone on here that has experience with the gearbox on the 950/990? I have a really strange (to me) issue with my sons 990. I have a post here about it. If anyone has an idea as to what it might be or knows anyone that would I would really appreciate it. I feel terrible as I just wanted to help him with a hard to find neutral and shifting issues and now it appears there are 4 gears missing in the box!! Also he has my 950 until I get it sorted :(

    Lyndon,

I noticed on Instagram you had "Juice" out recently. Any Races to Places on the old beast? Maybe give Rex/Basil a break haha?
