First day with my new parts.
    Got my new knee yesterday
It looks like the start on my riding season is going to get pushed back a bit.[IMG]

Take care of yourself. Hope you get back at it quickly. Someone already made the Bionic Man reference. :-)

Well day 5 with the new knee.
I can bend it better than 90 deg and take a few steps without the walker
I think tomorrow i will try changing over to the crutches.
Managed to reduce the pain meds a bit and icing it really seems to help.
It will be nice when the holes in my leg from the drains quit bleeding but it is getting better.
I counted the staples and they stuck 35 of the little beggers in me.
I bet that will be fun when they pop them out in 2 weeks.
All i can do with the bike is look at maps and catalogs and read all about the nice trips some lucky guys are on.
Oh well my turn will come

Week 3 with the new knee.
Tomorrow I start with the physio terrorists.
The weather has been great and of course the bike is parked. This is killing me as i am sure it is going to be a few more weeks before I can get it out of storage.
It still hurts like hell if i walk any distance and after doing my exercises.
Damn I wish I could have had this done in the winter but I was lucky to get in when I did.
Darn the time is dragging on this healing time.

Well I had my first physio today.
Major thing learned is that it is going to take a while. Damn...
It is going to make my first ride this year very sweet.
So keep the ride reports coming that way I can ride along with you.

Hang in there. This will probably be one of those things that will seem like there isn’t measurable progress from one day to the next.
For whatever it’s worth, I know at least one other guy who isn’t riding as much as he would like to. :-)

Stick with Physical Therapy, It works!! Had mine done in December and when I was all done with PT it blew up and Doc went in to clean it Mid March. Had to start all over again! This past week has been a turn around with the swelling going down and walking a little bit normal. Stairs are still tough but doable. I take an Oxycodone at night to help me sleep and I then take one in the morning along with Tylenol. Resident told me to use both at the same time as they seem to work well together. I must admit that when I take one in the morning my PT and the rest of the day seems to go pretty well. Riding a bike and working in the Garden right now, hoping to be back on the Bike by July for a Dual Sport ride in Michigan. Biggest issue I have is that I cannot fully extend my leg yet but it is getting better. Once that happens I will be done with Physical Therapy.

Thanks for the reply. Yep doing p.t. helps.
I take 1 T3 in the morning and it seems to do the job. I still need a T3 or 2 at night so I can sleep.
I can almost get my leg straight and I can bend it 105 degrees so not bad for 3 weeks.
I will be happy when the rest of the swelling goes down.
I managed to get outside for a walk yesterday but I only went a few blocks.
Now if I could just get the rest of my system working on a regular schedule things would be much better.
The first ride this year is going to be a sweet one indeed.

It is a month today with the new knee.
    Things are coming along slowly.
Was at physico today and can bend it 112 degrees and 3 degrees from being straight.
They are happy with my progress.
The first ride this year is going to be really sweet.

Comming up on 6 weeks and things are slowly getting better. Still some swelling in the knee but it is going down slowly.

Well 7 weeks with the new knee and the last visit with the physio terrorist.
It is getting a bit better each day but still has some swelling and sometimes feels a little unstable if I push it.
I can bend it far enough to rest my feet comfortably on the foot pegs on the FJR.
However I think it will be a few more weeks before I am riding.
Damn that first ride is going to feel nice.

Good to hear. Luckily mine wasn't that bad.
They didn't have you on a cold water circulator?

Yes I did use a lot of ice on the knee
I probably could have pulled the bike out 2 weeks ago but the knee was still pretty swolen and the weather was not great . A lot of rain.

Hoses go into a cooler and circulates cold water around the knee to keep swelling down.

I had something like that but nowhere near as fancy.
I was told to only ice down for 20 minutes at a time.
    It did help some.
I was also told the swelling can last 8 months or longer....damn.
Every day its a little bit better but it is hard to be patient.

My knee was not cut open as much as yours. Made recovery shorter. Back walking without aids @ 2 weeks.
Good that you are not pushing it too fast.
