I pulled the skid plate down on the 950 this afternoon, and this was laying in the bottom. It is about 14 inches (35-40 cm) long, and it has a solid metal plug on the end. Note the jagged edge on the hose -- hmmm:

I took the plug off the end, and the bottom inch or so of the hose had this grease-like stuff in it:

Any idea what this hose is, where it goes and what the heck it does??? Weird.... :huh

    Thanks, Greg!!

Will: I hope it's a factory leftover (vs. something that got chewed off in my 1,000 km service!).

If that's the one I think it is, its part of the evaporative emissions setup and connects either to the canisters or to the carb vent taps depending on which emissions setup you have (CA or 49 state).

I think I'd show Roger and see what he says. Did Flash do your 600 mile or the new guy?

Do you have an early 04 or a late 04? That doesn't look like anything I've seen on my early 04 and I've stripped it down pretty well since I did the valve adjustment myself and did electrical work behind the headlight.

    seh750,
    It's a late 2004 -- orange with black rims.

It is from the EVap system from the air valve under the air box . If you look at your owner manual at the end ,appendice 3 you can see a picture on the left and they show a line with close end .

Thanks for the input and ID, folks! Maybe this got dislodged in connection with my 1,000 km service. I've got a call in to my servicing dealer right now....
