Anyone riding this Saturday? It's been like forever since I've been on the KLR, besides a few short street trips. I'm still working on my WR, so I will need to stick some easier stuff with the big bike for a while.

I'm pretty open to anywhere. I'm in NW Phx, so around Bartlett or Lake Pleasant would be easier, but it doesn't have to be up here. I just don't want to get into anything that could be too tough with the pig, especially since it's been a couple months since I last rode any dirt.

I'll see if i can ride this Sunday (sorry Dan can't do Sat.). For now, I am eyeing Senator Hwy all the up to Prescott.

What's the back road to Crown King from Lake Pleasant like these days? I mean, other than any residual snow & slop that may be there right now. Is this still doable on a big bike in, say, 2 -3 weeks from now? Last I was up there was 2014 & while it was some effort, I don't remember anything particularly nasty or impassable doing it.

The road is in good shape but the one section where the road is diverted around the mining claim would be quite interesting on big bikes as long as it has water flowing.. this is from 2 weeks ago, the section in the middle was even deeper with more boulders you can't really see

In two to three weeks? from what I have seen it seems different every weekend.

We go up and down it fairly often on our big bikes at night for a dinner run to CK. It’s all pretty easy with the exception of the mine area Plawa mentioned but if you don’t mind getting your feet wet paddling through is easy enough.

I did a quick ride yesterday to Wickenburg where i met with JT.

Beautiful weather, it was ~65 deg up in Yarnell.

JT had a busy weekend of riding!

He and I rode from Wickenburg up to Crown King on Saturday. The weather was great and JT managed to find a route that avoided most of the side-by-side traffic.
Here are some of the pictures I took.



There were many water crossings on our route. JT likes getting wet much more than I do! This particular one was unnecessary as we came to a gate and had to turn around right after we got going again.


We saw a little bit of snow still on the ground!


We were briefly held up where a couple of side-by-sides had collided. We didn't see the crash, and they had them separated so we could get through within a few minutes.


It really was not a problem to get up to Crown King on my KLR. There were a few sections that I would consider a little tricky due to big rocks, but nothing that presented any real trouble.
