I was on my way to Goler Wash when I happened upon Suzuki Phil, and Robert (KLR 650). I was going West while the crew was headed East. We checked out Barker Ranch while waiting for the rest of the group to show up, but the wait proved too long, so we headed to Mengel Pass. Phil led, and I always enjoy watching him pick a line, execute it flawlessly, and motor on. Maybe you just didn't notice the rocks because you are so smooth. :thumb

We (NWAF and Scootergirl) had an awesome first time attending. Thanks Joel for all the hard work and Keith, Dewey and Jo for leading the perfect noobs rides on Friday and Saturday. Keith even found NWAF's lost license plate in the sand! :clap And some tourists with a flat will never forget our group and their special helper.:wings

first death valley ride and first with adv. great 3 days of riding with about 30 different people. loved the tough rocky roads, the high speed gravel roads, the 75mph run down the moistened sand road, the sand, the snow, could have lived without the wind but it's the desert. made a lot of new adv friends..thanks to the entire crew that worked to put it together. thanks to joel for letting me get in kinda late. gave me memories for a lifetime..kevin

Also and by the way. I feel bad that as I was cooking burgers that when one inmates asked me to toast his bun I said, "No! I am cooking for 150 peeps, I do not have time for toasting buns!"

I was up to my ass in cooking but I could have been a bit more...mmmm....sorry sounding...

Or I could have offered to let him jump back behind the grill to toast his own buns.

So, anyway. Sorry I was not more sorry sounding. :D

Only able to save one picture from the camera. Friday had a lovely ride to Ballerat up Goler. Thanks WildChild for riding the XR up the wash. Called it an early day. Saturday rode with the PPs from SD. Thank you for riding with a n00b.

I am glad that I was able to get a picture of DirtDiver. He saved the day for me. DirtDiver had a spare clutch handle after I broke mine it in a slow speed tipover. My left butt cheek is still purple (no I am not posting pics).

Ron, whenever we are together I'll buy you a beer.

Tired and dusty after the ride home today but thanks to everyone who organized the weekend. Our group had a great time and I'm sure we'll be posting pictures soon. For now though, here's a snap of my favorite dual sport bike (ha!).

Here are some of the photos of our ride. I was with Memnok and a bunch of people......

This was a wrong way canyon we went up on Friday...was fun though but got really rocky.

Then onto the parking lot in front of Gholer wash...I think my brother and I helped drag 20 bikes up that thing...was funny as hell to watch the show!

Then onto the next parking lot at the cabin on Mengel.

    Ouch Charlie!!!!

Then to Ballarat for a beer and to check out some crazies on ducks! How much do those MoFo's cost?

    Home sweet home!

Saturday was off with a new group (Dirtdiver and company) to see a old Chinese guys massively inbred goldfish.

Then onto a cool mine near Darwin.

    My Bro and I.

The road up to the mine

    Over to South Pass....

Then we turned around and went out past Cerro Gordo (Sp?) to here...

Overall, very good time, met some great people, will be back next year.

    P.S.
They need more than one crapper in the campground!!! Hhahahahaha

Thanks Joel for organizing/ hurding us into this wonderful event:thumb
As always, I really appreciate seeing my old Buddy's from the past that I usually only get to see at such events thoughout the years...
I also appreciate meeting new pucks and sharing our experiences.:D

Thanks to Jimmy for busting his ASS Sat. night!!!:clap
    It was delicious!
Unfortunately, I didn't get to ride(on two wheels) this event:cry.
My bike was burried under snow from recent storms- regardless, I enjoyed just being out in DV with you pucks!
I'm glad I didn't have to make any injured body/bike extractions and that we all made it home safe:clap.
Too bad the weather hampered routes thru South Pass on Friday/Saturday- I was stationed @ the Hot Springs with gas/ beers in support.
I appreciate those that STILL paid me gas money that had reserved gas.:thumb
And those that purchased beer/ donated to offset the price of the 2 kegs.:thumbup.

    Cheers,

    Pablo

    Pics to come soon....
