Try to hold your enthusiasm in check, OK? :D

You're headed to the land where God pigs out at supper, and you should do the same. Best food in the world awaits....

me & a friend or two are coming down to the swamp rally & look forward to meeting you & appreciate your tips!
the TRACE is a poor mans sleeping pill. ( the north end - uncompleted back then _ now that's a fun ride:nod )i rode it down in 82 on a 750 honda interceptor & damn near fell off - i was a 23yr lad back then traveling to the NESHOBA CO HOUSE FAIR - alcohol was involved:1drinkme & my bud andy really enjoed ourselves. wish he could join me for the swamp but his beef cows are calving....i told em to hurry up!
me, i'll be riding my first & only beemer, a 95 1100gs. we get along pretty good & are looking forward to the ride!

what might be a good rt & stay in big easy one night?

    Deno-o,

Glad to hear it. Come on down. Check an old friend's blog for some insigt into MS backroads if your travel schedule allows. See info and maps at http://backroading.blogspot.com This is the best source I know of for great backroads the way you are coming. Don't travel that way much, so can't help with specific routes. Stay off the slab.

I have never been a big fan of New Orleans. Even less now. Stay some where safe.

Once here, we can put you on some great riding. You will appreciate the suspension on the GS. We are a poor state and the roads are rough. Although rich in oil revenues and taxes, the politicians steal most of the money leaving little for roads, education, law enforcement and the like.

Ask for Warren when you get in. Several of us will be there Thurs night.

If you need a place to rest your head I'm in your path. May go to the rally too. Went in 04 and had a good time.

If you are going to Louisiana, take Papa's advice and spend your time in the sw part of the state. If you have to see NOLA, make a day trip out of it. Others might have a different opinion.
I spent a good part of my young adult life living in NOLA and travelling to the rest of LA and surrounding states. If I ever had to move back there, Lafayette and the surrounding area would be my 1st choice.
I see you are from Old Hickory. That is my neck of the woods as well.
