OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU and wires) – A shooting near the Golden State Warriors celebration in Oakland Friday afternoon injured three people, two critically, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Oakland police said the shooting took place around the 1800 block of Lakeshore on the other side of Lake Merritt from where thousands had gathered to honor the Warriors on winning the NBA Championship.

Investigators and a witness said they believed the shooting was the result of an argument before the parade began early Friday morning.

"There was like a couple people arguing and then not only a couple minutes after that there was five or six gunshots happening,” says Bernice who was a witness to the shooting.

"When officers responded they located three victims, thankfully those victims have been transported to local hospital and they are in stable, non-life threatening condition at this time," says Sgt. Holly Joshi of Oakland Police.

Witnesses told police that the gunman fled on foot. Police have not released a description of the shooter.

Night has yet to fall, Jeeves.

I got the hell out of town before the neck-tattooed flatbillers disbursed into the surrounding areas.

Obama is also in town for fundraisers, so more reason to GTFO before it got too congested to escape.

The Pearly Gates was a construction zone, as heavenly workmen hastily installed a redesigned breakaway hinge upgrade.

Turned the TV to watch local news, NBA still playing. Took over 20 minutes to play the last 1:10 of the game.
No fucking wonder this was dead for 5 years.
    It deserves to be.

I agree with your assessment. I also was waiting for the national news to come on but with basketball always running over their allotted time...…………….:umph

This past Sunday it was the Lakers and the Celtics playing. It was actually a decent game with a close score at the end but with just a few minutes left on the clock and between all the time outs, (how many do they get per game, 50?) and all the fouls, what could have been a great finish turned lame as the Lakers managed the clock better than the Celtics. The Celtics had maybe a second or two to inbound and throw up a three pointer to tie the game. By the time they threw the ball in and the guy threw up a shot the time expired.

Yep. I live in the epicenter of the basketball universe and haven't watch round ball in years. Boring as golf.

Haven’t watched an NBA game in years. Not since they’re allowed to carry the ball around and take 8 steps to the basket anyway.

Is it because the referees just ignore traveling calls nowadays, or is it because the players are too tall.

The players have made an art of carrying the ball and getting an extra step (or two) to the basket. Once everyone got into it, the refs can’t keep up. Now only the most blatant stuff gets called.
