Thanks for assembling the Mural Tour so I have some direction.

Looks like I shouldn’t stop to eat in middle of posting or it ends up as a mess, the NewB.

Damn Wilber, that's a lot of pictures :knary. I'll give you a C- for presentation, but an A+ for execution. That was a good ride, a nice circuit and good photos - 33 times :jack. It's your first effort at posting here, so no worries, glad to have you joining the tour. For general inmate info, Wilber rode with me on about half of my State Park posts but never joined the tour. He's in the Witness Protection Program and was a little worried about PITA locating him. We can sort out the picture thing over a couple beers.

Not sure about the rules thing, it just looks like you missed Visionary Builders in Sanford, once my neck heals we can ride back down there. Now your first pic, Snowdrift is nice, not on the list (that I am aware), but extra murals are always welcome. By my count, you had a 15 mural day. Pretty damn good for a NewB.

Cheers and welcome to the tour.

Welcome the tour Drummer. Excellent picture in Mebane and thanks for the extra in Haw River. These other, non-specified murals is what's going to give real life to this tour.

Wilber, glad you got the photo deal worked out. Only one problem, you put the wrong Wendell picture up :jack. I know you've got it, but if you don't I'll send you a copy.

    Thanks, missed that one.
With that, 75 murals to go and a lot of miles to take them all out.

Like Wilbur said, we got a late start with an outdoor, mid-day coffee in Wendell and enjoyed the nice afternoon to grab a few near by murals.
    First on the list.
Oliver, The World's Largest Tobacco Worm, still dressed for the season.

Not on the list, but we're in town so why not get another one, the semi-official welcome mural

Then it was east to Freemont to grab one of the few advertising signs listed in the Quest. I've just always liked this one, not sure why really.
There are a lot of really cool Coke and Pepsi signs scattered around the state. jethrocephus has already grabbed a couple very nice examples in Sanford. Please feel free to do the same.

Anyway, it was then south a few miles to Goldsboro to Make a Wish.
It was a nice surprise to find that we actually had to wait a few minutes to take the picture as there were people already there doing the same.

Just a couple blocks over is the African American Music Trails mural, very bright and colorful.

And of course a visit to Goldsboro isn't complete without a reminder of the pride of the city.
    They love their jet noise.

It was a nice three hour spin on a beautiful afternoon. Just the thing to cure what ails you.

Sunshine and nearly 60 in January, that sounds like a good day to fire up the scooter.
    Let's go

Riding with Wilber again, we headed north to Littleton to grab the Town Scene Mural. The parking lot that usually allows for easy access to the mural was gated, but you can still get to the mural.

While there, we took what is probably my eighth :D photo of the Historic Littleton mural. It's not on the list, but just one more for the day.

We then turned east and road through the beautiful metropolis that is Roanoke Rapids and on towards the land of the Rockfish. Starbucks in Roanoke Rapids is usually a good spot to stop for a cup of bean juice, but these aren't these times.

A short distance east of Weldon is the nice little town of Jackson, and this horse. Another mural that I've photographed a lot, tag games, day rides, etc., it's one more time and in the Mural Quest 21 ledger.

A little further east, and the northeast corner of our route is Conway and their train. You can drive right past this one if you aren't looking.
There is of course one more mural about as east as you can go, the Coke mural in Elizabeth City, but it was to much and to far for our day. Winter really cuts down on your range - well at least mine :(.

Getting hungry and staying in our Covid defense mode, we stopped at the Edwards Ferry BAA (old photo) for a cooler lunch. As is nearly always my experience,
we were the only people there.

Requiring a westward jog in the route, we hit Enfield and their mural recalling the days of tobacco prosperity. Sadly, that prosperity seems to be gone.

Back east and heading towards Hobgood, we passed through the town of Rich Square. I've been here many times, but never noticed this mural until today. Another not on the list, it's a good stop.

And we get to Hobgood and their memory of the days of king cotton. It was a bit wet and the CBX (even with a it's big foot) wanted to sink.

I was thinking that I might get to test my newly installed tank guards :D

On down the road to Tarboro and this bright, fresh, huge mural dedicated to veterans. It's very nice.

And our last mural of the day, another one that I've visited quite a few times, is in Bethel. I'm not really sure the story behind this mural as it clearly doesn't depict a North Carolina scene.
Maybe the artist just liked trains and mountains.

I with a full bladder and Wilber needing a smoke, we made one last stop at the Old Sparta BAA.
It was a great day to be out on two wheels and making the best of these tough times. You should try it:thumb

ncroadtoad claims top be of 'No Use to Society' but led us on a 7 mural grab Thursday as we traveled Eastern NC backroads (w/some twisty's) to a few places I didn't know to exist.

That's my wife's opinion anyway :D. It was a good day for a ride, glad you joined me.
It seems like the mural thing hasn't really caught on yet.
