What is the status on the fall colors? Still a week or two before peak?

I have seen a lot of peak, or almost peak colors in the last week south of Asheville. It varies wildly with elevation. And we had lots of rain that knocked the brown leaves down.

Typically for western NC, it’s the last week of the month in general. Today’s ride. Pic of the lake down below is the Smoky mtn national park beyond it. Mtns beyond the bike pic, is the Joyce Kilmer wilderness that’s ajacent to the Cherohala Skyway. The Oaks change last. That’s what most of the green is.
