That was a good post amigo, two first visits. I would encourage you to try to run that gas down a little more, those V1's probably aren't that heavy to push.. :D

In to the congestion zone today for my last three parks in the SE corner of the state. It's not even summer yet, it was a Thursday and we're in semi-lockdown - 45 minute traffic jam in Wilmington :muutt
Once we escaped that traffic hell, the rest was pretty good.

Stopped at the Castle Haynes BAA for coffee and a pee (still practicing Covid defense measures :2cry)

Yep, those are the same ones....

    That's a new one though..

Atlantic Beach was pretty calm though. The beaches are still closed.

A few more parks in the East and then it will be time to point the scooter West, to curves and mountains.

Had another wonderful day ride collecting 3 more Parks. Medoc Mountain, Merchants Millpond and Dismal Park. IMG_8971.JPG IMG_8972.JPG IMG_8973.JPG IMG_8975.JPG This was a bit of a reach for me. Nine hours in the saddle, but the temperatures and sunshine were great. When I got to Medoc Mountain, the bike wanted to be stripped down for a sexy naked style picture. Ha-Ha Even RoadToad was getting sun sittin' on the tail of the bike.

Aw chainslap...:( I really hate to be that guy, but I can't allow this one. The rules are clear on this:
    The rules are simple.
    • Take a picture of your bike parked in front (or within view) of the state park ENTRANCE SIGN. That’s not a direction sign, visitor center sign, it’s the entrance sign. This way you can ride the tour even if the park is closed.
    • The tour ends on 31 December 2020
    I'm sorry man..

It was a big day for me, at least that was the plan. Make a loop route that got Medoc Mountain, Merchants Millpond, Dismal Swamp and then stretch out to OBX for Jockey Ridge. All went just like planned until I popped over the bridge onto the Outer Banks, a road block. After a nice conversation with the Deputy, actually he was a very nice guy, I was unable to convince him to let me "just go take a picture" and I back tracked 1:30 (3:00) total and came home. Yes I'm a dumbass... Maybe check the news next time...

Well good luck to whom ever can get on the island. I tried three separate times to grab jockeys ridge until I was threatened to be arrested for disobedience and trespassing. I was about to press it again but decided to lick my wounds and turn tail. Long ass way to be told I couldn't. I finally decided I'd better use what brains I have left. If you own property or have a business you'll need a permit.

The courteous Deputy told me that at midnight tonight the island opens to tourists. I think I'll wait until fall now..

Chainslap, Some might say, who cares that you got Jockey's Ridge. I say, I like your determination. This is a fun game, it's challenging. There are no winners, except the personal goal to say, I did it. Keep knocking them Parks out. I still need Jockey, Pettigrew and Goose to finish off the Coastal Region. Getting Dismal was rough for me. Jockey is even further at 260 miles away. I hope I can get them. Also, I didn't know you could get saddlebags for a Buell. I also like the double bump wind screen, does it quiet wind noise better than stock?

Just to be clear. I didn't trespass. Today or yesterday. Yesterday I left when I was told. I just had to be told a few times.

Today was no issue. No roadblock. Island was open to traffic. All legal.

Tom, that's the "t" model. Touring. Not many differences. Taller bars, saddle bags, accessory bags up front and some small lower fairings. Otherwise the same.

The windscreen is a zero gravity sport touring model with a laminar lip. It works great for me but we're all different sizes.

Bit of unexpected adventure yesterday. Headed up to New River, and on the way found that route 21 between Doughton and Roaring Gap has finally been repaved. You can really, uhh, motivate on that road again with the tar snakes gone. Stopped for a quick lunch at New River, then pointed the GPS to Elk Knob.

Garmin has 2 PoI entries for Elk Knob State Park and both are wrong. The entry in Zionville puts you on the west side of Snake Mountain, inside some gated community with signs warning of attack dogs and firearms on premises (nice people, I'm sure). The other is in Creston, on a dead end road named Trout Lane that's really just a driveway through a junkyard. Upside to all of this, we rode quit a bit of Highway 88 and Rich Mountain Rd, both of which are excellent rides.
