I will be there.
And some Chinese food sounds great!
@horsinaround glad to hear it! As you may have determined, cows outnumber people a WHOLE lot here. I’m not a trail rider and am attempting to mount a sidecar to my 1150gs so my wife can ride with me again (or the dog, whichever victim is willing!).
Understand my surprise at you moving from th home of BD and not coming to work for them!
Pm if you’re willing to meet up for a welcome tour of the area.
Worked nights at BD for 10 years in Holdrege. That place can kiss my ass. It's a cleverly made prison.
Last call for tomorrow. Three.zero.8. Three.seven.9.seven.2.one.9 is my number. Leave at 1pm.
No ride today due to the weather. Roads are shit.
Thank you, I will shoot you a message !
They are a pharmaceutical company correct ? I don't think I have heard of them before the last few months. It's a pretty strange coincidence with the whole CT and NE thing.
BD makes medical devices of many flavors. Broken Bows products are blood collection tubes and urinalysis cups. Columbus and Holdrege have their own lines.
BD likes rural settings to avoid union operations and for the workforce. As crashman said above, their system works for some, not for others.
May your move be uneventful and swift!
I wouldn't have stayed there 10 years if it was that bad. They do pay well because they have to.
Going to put this out here as notice. If any of you know Monica Harvey (Lil Sis) and her ministry to veterans, you may want to know that she has had a rough week and is near the end. She “lives” in Stapleton but has spent a good deal of the past years traveling to veterans events welcoming them home.
If you know her, send her a thank you on her FB page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1082312090.
Are there any enduro series that run in Nebraska ? My quick internet search came up blank.
Iowa is part of a enduro series and a few of whatever that enduro group is usually has a couple races in far Western Iowa, basically the border of Nebraska.
I rode a WR250R to Bartlett Iowa for the race 3 or 4 years ago.
It was a blast! Amazing riding, very steep hills in those Missouri River bluffs, lots of creek crossings and varied mixed terrain.
I would encourage any one interested to try it out. I was a little nervous, first real enduro. And i was on a bike thats not ideal.
But it was a great challenge.
I was one of 2 there on a Wr250R.
I was the only one rocking mirrors, jeans, and work boots.
Got a lot of looks pulling in that day. There were hundreds of bikes and everyone was in full gear and jerseys.
I looked like a farmer lol
but i sure passed a shit ton of fancy looking riders on brand new KTMs and YZs!! lol
Sadly all those areas around the bluffs probably got smoked by all the floods.
i will do some reasearch and see if i can find that enduro group.
It appears they have the Bartlett race scheduled for October this year.
Would love to get a little group together and make a trip out, but I think that will be in the peak of Harvest.
Doesn’t link like there is going to be a FifthFest this year. Wa thinking about @horsinaround need for off highway activities.
What is/was fifthfest ? Sounds kind of fun lol
I am a slower paced C vet guy. I ran several enduro' s last year with Netra here in New England. They are fun for sure. I pretty much just rode them like a turkey run.
The last year to year and half I haven't been able to ride nearly as much as I want. My current job takes up all of my time. Hopefully I can get back out at least weekly once we move.
I was never able to go, but Fifth Fest was a sand/dirt track event hosted by @fifthcircle in Northeast Nebraska in September. Grilling, home craft beer and a lot of dirt naps were the order of the day. No mention past 2018’s event. Link:
I don't think fifth fest is happening this year.......however Kurt gave me an idea last year. Camp at Niobrara state park and run the last year's route from there. You would be on your own with food and camping. If Kurt doesn't post a fifth fest event in the next couple weeks we will get something in place in mid to late September.
Damn thats too bad to hear, I was hoping this would of been the year i finally could of gone.
This Saturday, August 3rd, I'm going to ride NW of St. Paul looking for good dirt road routes for an upcoming ride with the Nebraska Dual Sport Riders group. Meet behind Casey's at 8:00 am. Kickstands up at 8:10 am. Heading to Davis Creek Dam area and back. Maybe eat lunch in Scotia? Gas in Scotia, North Loup, or Elba. 100 to 150 mile loop. If interested be there.
