I'd be interested depending where it is to be held. Does he help out beginner riders too?

I posted a reply in the original thread. I would do it to help support his habit. I have plenty of offroad experience but you can always learn something new.

    Thanks Mike! PM'd you back...

Before I start rambling about logistics, I'm really excited by the interest this is generating. I think it promises to be a lot of fun.

Regarding the contents of the clinic and who would benefit from attending: the layout of the day is to spend the morning working on fundamentals, that everyone can benefit from, whether expert or beginner. Experts will find that they have learned the hard way to do many of these things, but breaking the drills down into the simplest bits will help them isolate places they can improve. At least, that's been my experience. Beginners will learn the right way to do things from the start, which is not something I ever had the benefit of. Much easier to learn right than to unlearn wrong.

Then, we'll go on a trailride in the afternoon where our goal is to apply the fundamentals we practiced in the morning to common trail situations. We won't be looking for the most challenging terrain, because it's hard to learn in that stuff, instead, we'll try to find things that are just difficult enough to reveal bad technique, without having a lot of risk associated. If there's interest, we can throw in some more advanced stuff on the end of the trailride to demonstrate how far things can go.

Regarding location: As soon as I put my post out, Surfphoto PM'd me with the perfect spot, a riding area about 1.5-2 hours from both San Diego and LA (no, I'm not sure exactly where, but we'll get to that when the time comes). He has a buddy who owns a hotel adjacent to the riding area, and there's camping there as well. He took some pictures from scouting and it seems like it will be ideal.

Regarding dates: There's a couple of potential commitments that I need to sort out before we can agree on a date. My thinking is that if we set a date for September by early July, that this should be enough warning for everyone? It's very helpful for folks to comment on when they can and can't make it, even this early on, so that we can rule some things out ahead of time...

I'm in and I will bringing my son who is 15 and a beginner, both of us will benefit from the experiance. But this is what I was hoping to find for him.

The only question is will the ride require street riding as his bike is not street legal and niether is he?

I'm game for September:clap -- all of the dates look good at this point although I might reckon the labor day weekend might be tough for some (or maybe it makes it easier :dunno ).

I'm interested. Provided I get a decent DS ride by then. I don't think the TDM850 is the way to go for this. Hoping to have an XR650x, a KLR650 or a DR650 in the next month or so.

I'm definitely interested as well (depending on the final dates). I'll continue to lurk and monitor this thread for updates. I'm a beginner dual-sport.

    Thanks for the information.

Put my name on the list as well, depending on the dates. I have a lot of lectures in August and September (I work at a university), but I'd love to do this.
