late as always, awesome RR!!! Glad to see everyone right side up and having a blast. That song "Capt kirk climbing diamond peak" had me cracking up. NV has more peaks above 10k than any in the lower 48 states, yes even CO. Shhh, don't tell anyone anything more about NV....

kelly, my dog sympathizes with your bunny and punish cat.

appears we just missed you guys crossing paths in same neck of the woods this last year.

Send up a flare if you'll be riding in the northern part of the state. You might end up with a little company if desired.

For those of you asking about GPS tracks - I spent a lot of time doing the SPOT maps so you would know exactly where the guys were.
As has been said before - between the maps and the info in the report, it shouldn't be hard to re-create this route.
Just scroll through and take good notes...

Then, from what I understand, Countdown has all the tracks necessary for this ride (and more) at GpsXChange.com.
    http://www.gpsxchange.com/

If you go to his private library, you don't even have to post any of your tracks in order to download his.
(it's towards the middle of the page, click on "Countdown - Mainly CA and NV - Motorcycle/Dualsport")

So, anyway. I stopped by to tell you guys about a movie. Matt and I watched it last night and it was really good.
If you've ridden though Nevada, you've most likely seen the herds of wild horses...

Here's a documentary about 4 young men who decided to adopt several of these wild mustangs and then ride them from the border of Mexico to the border of Canada.
It's Mex to Can on horses!
Seriously - between the terrain and scenery, the camping, the frustrations with GPS, the locked gates... it was just like an ADV trip. :D
Beautifully filmed, Unbranded brought back great memories of our past rides and I thought the folks who enjoyed this report might like this movie as well.

For part of the trip, they also had a cute little burro named Donquita.
    She was my favorite! :raabia

You can watch Unbranded on Netflix, and here's a list of upcoming screenings.
More gorgeous photos here, but there are some spoilers in the text...

Hope that helps inspire you to go ride the West in 2016...

    Happy New Year!

This post reminds me of why I want to move to Nevada. I was awestruck when I was there in June, and that was just road riding around Tahoe and Truckee.

My sister-in-law's parents live in Belmont. She grew up in Tonopah and now lives in Minden. I'll have my time riding the desert, but over 20 years of not riding in the dirt means I have to develop skills I probably never had before I can take on a ride like this.

    Thanks for posting the RR!

Thanks for the plug. You guys did some new sections to me but I now have them. The thread is Statewide Motorized Trail System for NV. It has virtually every gas to gas possibility,, make your own loop.

As to riding from Mexico to Canada without hay-burners see:

Public Alert!!!!! All these Nevada RR's were actually photoshopped in a studio somewhere in a Las Vegas casino in an attempt to draw more tourists in. Please don't fall for these scams.... you would be sooooo disappointed bringing your motorcycle out here to Nevada! It's already too crowded! Your best bet is to continue on to California. So much better riding there and without the crowded conditions of Nevada! Please.

hmmm, I wonder if anyone bought that.......

So, has that Bun been hitting the sauce? You don't normally see such fancy headgear on the sober ones.:photog (I just found BigWan's ride report. I never get to 'em on time. But I saw that you can now 'follow' folks. Giving it a try.

    Gracias, Sancho! :pynd

Hope you're having some nice riding in Idaho, you lucky duck!

P.S. Do you see how cute my bunny is? That's why he's not stew. :nono

Just finished binge reading your trip - wow! I've been wanting to ride Nevada, I'm going to have to make a huge effort now.

Thanks for taking the time to write, post pics and videos. :clap

The only problem is I now have "Captain Kirk is climbing the mountain. Why's he climbing the mountain?" stuck in my head....:lol3

I've had that problem sometimes when I use my Kindle, but the IPad and laptop show them fine.
