What a great report! I've ridden some of this, deer hunted other parts. Still lots of new new me stuff. Sold the 990 and now going with a 690, so some good ride ideas for the smaller bike, maybe the 500 too.
Hi Wans! I just reread this for inspiration. I hope to see some of this soon.
I finally watched the movie you recommended. Wonderful!
Lot's of great info about our wild horses.
Yes!... that movie was awesome and very bike trip like.
To all you young guys out there, this is what Baja used to look like 30 years ago.
Thanks for bumping this report back up.
I just read thru it again and really enjoyed it. I have so many memories of those places and it is so great to see them from someone else's perspective. I really like to think about how the weather really changes the desert. A little rain or snow or wind or clouds can really make the same place look and feel different.
I enjoyed how BigWan described the smell and feel of the wet desert. I had a chance to share that with my 12 yo son when we were riding at the Yellowstone Rally earlier this year and his description brought it all right back into my mind.
If this is how Baja used to be, I am glad I spent the time I have in NV rather than Mexico.
Tracks are posted at: http://advrider.com/index.php?forums/gps-tracks-west-pnw.42/
Sorry, Big Wan gave them to me and they were posted but then one of the other riders objected and I took them down. Not sure the purpose of posting maps and photos of GPS plots that can't be followed and then not posting the actual Tracks. Guess it is just a tease not information sharing.
However there are many other great Northern Nevada rides posted.
Bump for a classic.
