I know its been asked before, but how does this open filter setup effect fuel economy on a 950? I currently have the head2wind prefilter /jettingsetup and wouldnt say its great fuel economy.
In terms of economy, there are so many factors weighing in that I think it would be irresponsible to comment on the impact of any air filter system on fuel economy given all the permutations of tuning via jetting and carb settings. I doubt highly that our air filtration solution would differ than the others in the market today nor would it result in any difference in power over those. Poor fuel economy is definitely more of a result of jetting and tuning vs your current actual air filter system. I am entirely focused on:
1- superior seal
2- ease of filter change/cleaning/replacing
3- access to and cost of replacement filters
4- overall cost to customer
In other words, if you’re running any of the existing ITG filter based solutions and swap over to ours, I’d be surprised if difference in power or fuel consumption would vary more than a few percent if at all. Having said that, I do believe our approach offers improvements that may result in more efficiency (power and consumption) but at this point, I can’t really make and defendable or proven claims.
Economical 950 is an oxymoron. By the times I factor in rear tires it's cheaper to haul mine in the wifes sprinter. I have yet to put the bike in the van. On the same topic my FXRT is about the same mpg, less hp but more potato,potato at idle.
And am I the only one that clicks on this hoping to see pics?
Will your design be an open element design like the ITG and rotweiler or will you be doing some sort of box or housing to reduce intake noise?

It will be an open element. You don’t like the LC8 full throttle howl of Honky the Christmas Goose? I find it intoxicating...
Ok thanks for the update. I do like the sound when ripping in the dirt and riding angry, but 300 miles on highway tends to drone on. I gave up my remus and went with a Q4 because of the highway drone.
We will be supplying a prefilter that goes over the base filter element - that should help quiet things down from the annoying drone of highway motoring...

Very close to final...testing exposed one thing I wanted to change. I should be ready to produce and then ready for purchase in April.
