Soon, most likely spring of 2020 there will be a made in the USA motorcycle that you can order a sidecar from the factory for. We are working with an American manufacture of motorcycles to supply a sidecar that while you will have to install the sidecar your self, will be a factory option. The reason you will have to install the sidecar your self is what I suspect is the same reason the you could never buy a motorcycle with a sidecar on it directly from Harley, You had to order the bike, order the sidecar then the dealer could put the two together. If Harley had done so they EPA testing would need to be done as a three wheel vehicle as would DOT compliance which as a Three wheeled vehicle would require a parking brake. The sidecar will come very close to having the alignment proper, the brake will be on its own maser and it will arrive already blead such that installation for the first time should be about an hour. There will be even an option for reduced trail for lighter steering. While we are building the sidecar and the prototype is just about done and is not based on any of our current product line I am not able to provide more details until the official launch by the motorcycle manufacture which is why I list this as a "tease".

Years ago Polaris treated a bunch of different sidecars on their Victory bikes, lots of rumors, nothing ever came of it...

That's a great way to compete with the Harley Triglides.

Janus ? That'd be one way to be sure you won't be swamped with orders.

    Nope, not my Bag.

A local multi dealer hear nearby sold one of the Indian Dresser + Tomohawk? For 40K + a few years back, so maybe 60?

Possibly positive news, especially if a major motorcycle manufacturer.
However, let's hope it's not simply for a PR stunt such as a movie appearance, or a theme park ride !
On the other hand, good on you Jay for attracting the attention of a bike manufacturer.

So far, we have been paid to produce the first one. The plug for the mold is about 95% done, next week we will be producing the mold. The following week the first body will be done and we will be then working on upholstery and the frame. Figure by the time we are tooled and the first one is painted about 2 more months. Then professional photography, video's on installation as well as instructions marketing material and more. I suspect about that time the company will start taking orders. We intend to start production before the sidecar is officially on the market so that we can try and get ahead of demand a bit as until we see what demand ends up being we will be working with a single mold. Then, we start on the cargo version.

As far as movie stunt and PR stuff, we are working with two additional companies for this sort of thing, again just a tease as they can not be named but both will have sidecars being used in national advertising campaigns. One will be at Daytona this year.

And yes, we are hiring for a second shift ;)

    Jay,

It would be really cool if you could do an install video sometime mounting a Sidecar to a Bike using common Tools we all have.

It would be a good help to the community.

In the next couple of weeks we will be doing video's of the installation of our Expedition sidecar onto my R1250GSA which will include how to install the interchangeable wheel option. Videos will be done of the "new" sidecar by the company we are building it for as they want a higher standard of video then we tend to do. (I.E. done by people who do it for a living, not shot with a cell phone)
We will have my R1250GSA at the BMW national rally with an Expedition sidecar. We may have the new "sidecar" and bike at the event. This is the only event we have plans to attend this year however we may do the touratec rally and the overland expedition with the GS rig.
