    I'm off to stand in a field, drink tea and peruse rusty things in the morning here;

    I think I'm going to buy an engine to strip-build-tune over the winter instead of a full bike build.
    Any ideas...? There is usually a good selection of British/Jap/road/race/speedway etc etc........

    That should get you something cool. Hopefully you'll find one and know it when you see it. But you have to beat all of these guys to it. :photog

    JAP vee twin. Even a side valve will be fun.

    A mate found a V2 industrial engine that he rammed into an A10 frame, immediately made it look 20 years older.
    The engine was a bit odd. Had the cam faces at 45deg. Both the mag and external oil pump hung right off. Exposed valve gear.

    what should we do while there, we usually just wing it and have a great time.

    Going equipped, endoscope this time. Also including a magnifying glass to knowledgably inspect serial numbers I know nothing about! And a large wrench for tweaking cranks to check for seizures.

    Man, I'd love to do something like this. Just get any motor, and rebuild it to top condition. We used to do that in high school. Had a lot of fun with it too.

    Grand prix sounds great! How long are you in London town? I'm not a London person but could certainly suggest a few things.

    in the mid 70s, a man took a speedway engine, added a norton oil pump n gear box to a beeza b44 frame and had one wild sounding track bike.

    If you take a little compression out of a speedway engine (knock it down to 12:1 from 15:1) it’ll run good n hard. It’ll last quite a while if you get rid of the aluminum connecting rod too

    I feel ya man! My better half is a Dr. Who freak as well. If we ever travel across the pond, a tardis visit will likely be mandatory!
