Direct from Hitchcocks in England.
FWIW, when re-torquing I always slacken first to ensure that there isn't a false reading due to stiction. That's just me, as I am a finicky guy.
Winifred Wells/Beverage passed away. She was nearing 92.
Thank you Beet.
What a life!
Thanks, Beet, for the link.
Bit wet on the east coast of Australia. Took Winnie for a ride, 4 days of rain. She never missed a beet.
Thanks for the pics, Beet!
You have to zoom in. My 2nd generation seat on springs. I’ll put foam and cover it eventually- LOL. It was a Postie bike seat as we have in Australia. Springs from front forks of some? bike.
Bit more today. That’s a postie rack.
Test road the seat this morning. Was very nice but. Needs a centre spring and raise rear up slightly. I’ll make adjustments and give it another try. Very happy though.
3rd Spring fitted and rear of seat raised slightly. Stay tuned.
What’s going on, is every one on holidays. Surely others are playing with their bikes. Come on and show what’s happening. Regards
A few years back I rode across Australia taking inspiration from Winnifred Wells ride she did in 1950. I’m thinking of doing her Around Australia ride on my Winnie - 350 Classic.
Worked out it’s some 13,000klm the way that her father and she did it. Took some 65days. I’m still working things out. At this stage it will not be for charity or such like, just a ride.
So I’ve done some thinking and some figures
for the trip around Australia, sort of like Winnie did but different conditions and bike. I’m just taking inspiration from Winnifred. So a leave date will be September 2021. I’m thinking that I’ll leave and finish from my home town in Victoria but be in PERTH(Western Australia) to leave on the date Winnie and her father did some 70 years before. I’ll also likely start a Facebook page but also update via here if I’m allowed. I’ll keep you all up to date as things progress. All the best.
Well, it's "shitty weather season" here though it's been a much milder winter than normal. I actually had Emma out for a spin this past weekend. Not much to talk about when you have a bike that starts first kick and just works. Where is the legendary unreliability I keep hearing about?
Not much new that you haven't read in this thread over the last year about my Emma but now in book form.
Available on Amazon.
Tired of not have a correct speedo. Got this one and works a treat. About $80 aust. It’s GPS.
Nice photo! Weather was nice here for a short bit, but now it turned back to winter again. Due to the corona virus all the rural roads are totally empty, so ideal for riding. Even the state roads are pretty quiet.
A pic from more normal times.
Photo must be flipped; chain on the wrong side.
Lots of hand-wringing on FB, etc about riding during the virus. "What if you go down?" I've got three bikes, the Bullet is the only one that runs right now (how about dat nonsense?!). I figure any crash I have pottering around on Emma isn't going to require a hospital stay. Very few cagers on the roads I travel these days.
