good luck with it, I hope they get to it quickly, if its putting a warning on the dash like you say when it happens then more than likely they will find a fault code to match it.

Cheers for that BD - good to find a kindred spirit who can see the FGS still have much to commend them - not least the little Rotax motor - McCardigan of this parish (Melbin ish) has done big K's on his - gotta love you inmates from the 'Lucky Country' - go well :)

I have the PDF owners manuals as well as the factory Repair Manuals for all of our bikes on microSDs on my cell, and on a ASUS tablet; which also has GS-911, Escort Radar and more for long trips (just in case).

Hi BD - well I picked my F8GSA today after the dealer ran the diagnostic which revealed a fault in the 'Throttle Grip Sensor' (mine is 'ride by wire' equipped) - their remedial action included 'teaching in' the throttle grip with the comment that 'if the issue continues throttle grip sensor will need to be replaced' - cheers Oaters

Dumb question: About to replace my chain which the manual calls must be 116 links. Does anyone know if this is the lenght INCLUDING the connector link (ie 115 + connector link = 116)? I am cutting a 120 link chain to size. Thanks

Is it possible for you to measure the original or count the links in it?

Or put the new chain on with the adjusters in the middle position and then figure out where to break it.

That would have been the most logical process, Tigershark. Problem is, my replacement chain was defective so I sent it back and now weeks later, I can't recall how many links (or length ) it was. My gut tells me that the manufacturer size (116 links) does not include the connecting link but want to be sure. Sorebutt's recommendation makes good sense. Thanks guys

Just count the links on the old chain.
That is all I have ever done.

I see yours is also an F800GS Adventure like mine. Do you recall how many links yours has? I no longer have the old chain, otherwise I'd count mine :D

If you're not in a hurry I'll count mine in a couple days and let you know.

You guys do realise that is impossible to join a chain with an odd number of links, don't you?

I was going to replace the brake fluid. The dealer tech told me that they replace the front brake diaphragm and the rear brake reservoir everytime they replace the brake fluid. Could anyone tell me if this is needed? Are you guys doing this way?

    Thanks

Every time is just robbery. At the Dealer I very rarely changed them. If it's still flexible, no tears or deterioration then no. My '09 has the originals.

Even the brake fluid is expensive at the Dealer, no? Any DOT 4 is good. I buy Bosch branded purple stuff.
