...I Know, I totally know that i made way to many mistakes, from being way to stubborn and not lissening to much wisser people and friends, from trying to work 16 hours a day everyday and think my body and mind will be able to take it, from taking my life to a Point that my brain, heart and soul was unable to take the pressure and the tension anymore, well most of those issues still there after about 20 months of my total collapse..

why all this things concern you....
basically do to personal and fisical issues my brain is not able to process the amount of information require to provide the best possible service on a case by case basis, for that exact reason I decide to "close the shop" since I'm much rather not sell something than have the risk of selling the Wrong thing , confussing a client or getting scam just because I can not remenber who is who...

in a nut shell put it this way, I need to have my own phone number writen at the back of my phone because i can not remenber it..

anyway for a long time I was totally unwilling to compromise the quality of My service (Even if It sucks for the last few months since i was unable to deliver anything at all).
But yesterday I spend some time with My wonderful friend R-Dubb and his awesome family on the "FUneral services" for my dear friend GoLeM and he convey a request somebody made not to long ago for the Ricky bars so for the last few hours i keep thinking and thinking until i found a possible compromise, maybe not as great as the original form in terms of Precision but for sure far more than suffient than any other attemp ever intented..

so what i'm going to do is to describe the diferent body types, special requirements , type of riding and all this diferent factors involve in the bar selection and then let you Guys (with a Honest and Open heart) chose what is closes to your specific needs...

At the moment I have about 135 sets of handlebars (many are the same model and even color) that can be made into about 36 diferent permutations.
sincerlly i don't know if i'm going to make any more of them or persue the R1200GS model or any of my other dream projects, sadlly I guess I'm a pretty good designer but i have no stomach for the business stuff, specially when the pretators are waiting from a lapse of your attencion, so this last attept will be base on the vary far first Come first serve basis

how is going to work,, in the next few days I'm going to try my very best to describe to the best of my avility the diferent biotypes, bike combinations that will fit a certain kind of bar/clamp combo, I will also post the amount of bars and clamps I have available on each of this categories and at least for the moment when they are gone will be gone...

please keep all the hate and useless rants away since i'm much to weak to take that kind of abuse, also lets try to keep the process here on this tread since i have a really hard time opening e-mails, (panic attachs and crap like that) also don't even try to call me on the phone since is being disconected for about 6 weeks..

again my first mistake was to show my human side, but then again I'm a human before anything else and if i was a little smarter as a business man i will never ever try a business model like this since is totally Futile to try to find perfection on a Imperfect world..

Extreme thanks to the people that help my holding my hand in this really Dark times, specially to Lady Barbara at Alaska Leather that have a Bigger heart than the whole state of Alaska, my awesome friend E... My super close and dear friends Elizabeth, Paige ,Mollymollisimma, ANdrew, R-dubb, shasa mike in france Bob in barcelona, no-milles, Poolside that clean my tears and put out with some super incredible stinky crap and hold me down when i was cold and sick...

    Big Update/edit whatever
sorry i forgot to mension this, but I offer

you can get my clamps with two diferent types of upper mounts

here are the "Ussual Ricky bar" single top clamps that holds the two towers togheter in the two color options anodize clear (silver) or anodize black.

the other Option is this GPS Compatible mount, that will let you someday mount my own design or Pennytech pretty much anything you want.

I also make two basic set of Mounts, the Tall ones (Model that works for almost everybody) and then the low ones, that will only work for really tall people and/or very special circunstances.

    here is a size comparation

actually here is the whole foto gallery for your delight

Ricky, We met at the Spokane rally a few years ago. You were the only one that offered to look at my ill running 04 GS Adventure, even though your booth was swamped with people. Shows the kind of person you are. Tried several other people at the rally and a local BMW shop, only to be told they were to busy. Although we weren't able to fix it,(ended up being a bad stick coil) I just wanted to say thank you again. Sounds like you are going through some tough times right now. Hope everything works out ok for you.
    Thanks

Ricky, so glad to see you post again. :D You have been missed around here.
If you have bars and mounts that will work for me (for my size and ergos) I'd love to have a set.... once you get the chart for sizing done, I guess then I can determine if you have some that will "fit" for me. I have kicked myself 100 times for not ordering before when you were making and selling your system. That was my fault for procrastinating.
Maybe this time I can get a set.
On another note, I hope you continue to make progress on a personal level with the things/issues that had you on the downside and feeling badly. Hang in there and remember you have lots of friends and well wishers out here.
    best regards to you.

:D Ricardo, peace, goodwill, and prosperity upon you! I have never met you (or dealt with you in buisness) but I felt the need to give you a positve post. Life can be difficult in the best of times, and it sounds as though you've had some hard ones. Remember to anticipate positively and that bad times WILL pass away. Also, remember to ask for help; many will lend a hand if you ask. Best wishes-Cycletroll

To make it a little more organized I'm going to try to start at one end of the body spectrum and finish at the other.
All these descriptions are based on the BMW GS Models 1100/1150 or 1150ADVenture (Not the 1200 or the new dirt oriented version) and the way the bike is set up will have some influence, so please keep this in mind since the "reference contact points" will vary.

Isquiatic contact points (your butt bones) with the seat [height and fore and aft]; As a result of your butt on the seat your shoulders will be higher and/or lower, backwards angle, sweep & azimut of the grips in space (obviously very important), footpeg location will also infer on the over all posture depending on the specific needs, mirrors, windscreen etc and riding style ..

sadlly since you know who is being trying to steal my designs i can not specifically talk about the theories and scientific prinsiples supporting this whole process but believe me I spend many hours studing and testing the subject to the point of accaustion , also try to understand I'm trying to provide the most accurate frame of criterias possible so the bars of your choice will be the best possible and not just a generic setup like other alternatives in the market propose..

please also don't get offend it, if i call you "Short" "DEform" or "monkey-boy" if you have long arms, for sure not every Mom read leonardo's guidelines about Aurea body proportions (Divine rule of 6.19 divisions, etc ) , i'm even a freak of nature with a super long torzo and a amazon dolfin size forehead.

lets try to define some subjects.

Efiiciency: The avility to perform a task with the minimum amount of energy spend, this is at the core of my work since I have a firm beleive the least energy you spend the more in tune with the vehicle you are going to be, keeping you more awake, alert , rest and also bringing you more enjoymet at the end of the day, this specially critical for ironbutt type riders pushing the boundries of the human body capavilities

Comfort: for some this is a Taboo word since many people are afraid to express their specific needs in fear of being call a Wuss or a weak old fart but I encorage you to enbrace it since your haopyness depends on it, some how is related to efficiency (in my Book) but ussually is view as the ultimate super dupper mega sofa seat, bars really close to your body and a windsceen as big as a ping pong table, for ricky the definition is a little diferent and refers to a posture that will keep your body align & relax and able to perform for a endless amount of time (Depending on body condiccion and fitness ofcouse)

Performance: ussuall this word collides with "Comfort" but I preffer to see it as a sliding scale, yes if you want Ultimate performance and handleling you will require to make a compromise in the long term milliage ride-avility of the bike, specially if you are heavilly loaded or carry a passanger since your own body is going to be located far forward from the center of mass of the bike

    Seat Fore and aft Location:
The GS and all the other Bmw R type bikes for that matter feature a pretty long distance from the seat to the triple clamps do to the engine/tranny configuration and the size of the Tank, since that is the case I preffer at least for most people (exept 6.4" and above with really long legs) to find a seat that locates them as far forward as possible, this way the need for the reach to the bars is less drastic, the distance from the helmet to the windscreen is shorter making for a quieter ride and the bike handle even better do to the placement of the body mass closer to the front wheel.

    Seat height:
Oviuslly for certain people the overall height of the seat is a really important cretiria, yes in most cases is because they are small legged and they need to reach the ground with easy (also remenebr a WIdder seat like the typical Corbin can be low but spread you legs to far making the standover a little less eficient) but in many others casesthe seat also needs to be move a little higher to improve room for the legs and make for a lesser angle at the knee, ancke and also the nerv sistem that transmit all the information

Lower widder footpegs: oviuslly (at least for me) is that you can also gain room for you Legs by lowering the location of your feet..
after all my years (1995 since i got my first GS) of research and testing in the footpeg department and making my own lowering pegs and other funky prototypes i came to the conclussing the fastway brand of pegs provide the ultimate compromise of ground clearance, ancke movility, grip, Duravility price point, etc reason why i was selling them until my "FUbar demise" when "you know who" took away my right to sell them, I will say if you are above 5.10" and above the fastways are a exelent adiccion to the GS even if you only ride it on the streets and never stand up do to the improve surface area .

Also keep in mind if you stad up a lot the Footpegs become a reference point when you are standing (Opposite to your butt when you are sitting) so the lower the pegs the lower your shoulders are going to be, ergo is less need for the bars to be hyper tall and generate a conflicting compromise when you a seating (I hope i make sense)

Lets start with the diferent types of set ups i can provide, I just hoep is suffient letters on the alfabet to number them all.

Type A)... for "Not to tall People" Specially for the big GS…
So far my shortest optimal fitment was for a 5,3” female, but sincerly I never design my system for such a ergonomic compromise so I can only promise a dramatic Improvement but maybe not total satisfaction.

    Biometrics….
from 5.3" to 5,.5" (1.60cms to 1,65Cms) with proportionally narrow shoulders (13"/14" in between rotator blades) male or female with a 50% percentil body type,, aka a normal proportion just on a small package.

    Bike setup...
Seat... Normal or lowered seat (exept for Corbin that moves your butt way to far back)
Windscreen...anything you want will work just fine.
Footpegs,,, normal pegs work just fine for this size person.

    Type A variation One)
same criterias but will fit better to a person with shorter arm lengt, this will locate the grips really far back and also low, providing the closses distance in between the shoulders and the bars possible, but please be careful since if you are much taller than the size describe above you will feel constrain and unable to move propertlly to achive full range of mothion.

    Riding style..
Watching the birds enjoying the view kind of riders,, long term touring, (loaded, passnager and not so loaded ) not crazy fast and for sure more focus on confort than absolute performance.

    Type A variation two)
agresive riding style and more focus on performance than long term confort.

Type B)...not so Little dudes with Narrow shoudles, specially females fit this critea very well.

    Biometrics..
5.5" to 5.7" with some how narrow shoulders (13"/14' measure at rotators) long arms and legs.
    Bike setup..

    Bike set up..
Stock or lower it seat expet for Corbin.
    stock or lowered it footpegs

    Riding style:
short but frequent commuters, tight traffic specially for lane spliting in california.
this set up also provides a fair amount of comfort and safety since it keep your lower back with a proper lordixic form and easy to rotate neck and head (so you can look back in traffic to pass)

    Type C)...
not so Little dudes with some how wide shoulders,,,stocky whatever you call it.

    Biometrics
If you are about 5.5 to 5.7 with short arms and legs for you height and about 18" inches shoulders (wide shoulders for your height)

    Riding style.
Watching the flowers is more important for you than to get there fast, you ride a lot of milles , specially loaded and with out much hurry

    Level of comforrt/ performance compromise…
    Comfort is paramount for you,

    Milliage..
Tons of milles, mostlly touring, loaded, passenger, 3 radios, GPS.coffe cups, 7 diferent mirrors are your friends

    Modifications on the machine.
Stock or lowered seat on the dual seat 11/1150 GS model.
Lower but well made and design seat that place you close to the tank,, corbins are excluded since the place you isquiatic bones way to far back and the same for the ADVenture type seat, nothing that moves your butt really far back.

I'm going to stop for now,but i will continue when i have more energy until i describe every type of rider /set up possible...

hopeffully you get the idea, soon i will have a Inventory with the amount of parts and colors i have available on each Type and will place right next to the Type (will Updaye until they are gone) and the procedure will be for the prospected client to state on this tread what they want, then I will see if the bars/clamps still available (In a first come first serve basis) and then they will be contact for the payment method (I still need to find somebody to help me on this since I have very little memory this days for organizational part)

I will Not check PM's or my nomal e-mail (Is down anyway) so please comunicate with me here (Since i don't have focus to multi task this days)

NOTE: In the last few months i'm being working with my friend dale (A menber of ADVrider) and my friend dave doing some labor work so I may take me until the night to come back and update the tread.

    Note II
thanks for all the responses and be well wishes for sure if is not for my friends I will not be here today, so this coments are very dear to me as much as the harmfull can hurt me way to much..(reason i did not want to post here for a long time do to the Leakage of the Tu-mamaaa way of irreverent and hurtful expresions on the motorcycle side of this wonderful site

Cool, Rob your are the first one.

all the bars I make come ready to install the heated grips and bar-ends so is not even a need to mension it.
you need to send me your own in the mail since i don't have any spare cores, maybe is going to take a little longer since I don't ride my motorcycle much this days and the machine shop is about 20milles away, I'm also aware or at least confuse about some costumers that never got theirs, i need to talk with paige about those since i don't have them at my house or at least don't remenber were i put them (maybe they are at JP shop, but he already look also) since the only thing more confuse and desorganize than my brain at this moment is my own little studio.
I have the two color on the bars Black and Platinum grey and I have the towers in silver and black, your pick.

personally I preffer the contrast of the two colors

pretty REd R1150GS, not to many of them around
    [IMG]

Don Ramon choice also Black bars Silver clamps, i love the silver contrast of the clamps in some darker bikes like the black ones or gray ones
    [IMG]

but as you can see on Don Javarilla's ironHorse they work well even on the yellow ones. (The most dificult color to work with in my opinion)

Here are some with Black towers and platinum bars, is kind of incredible after so many happy (and sadlly not to happy campers do to my FuBaR brain in the last few months) i only have so few pictures. maybe a picture testimonial is in order.

    but Black always works

    Welcome back Ricky!!

Maybe a collaboration between the DESIGNER (your) and a manufacturer can provide us with a setup for the 1200GS.. You have an excellent product, I hope you make it available for the 12GS. :thumb

Yeap i think that is the way it need to be, since one man operations are not to efficient, specially if you are the "Dreamer" type like me..
actually one of my biggest frustrations is that i have a kickass design for the 1200 but no way to make them.. lets not even go there since is the same old story of the lack of blood flow..

for now focus In what I can do and someday in the future hopefully the dreams will comeback
