I have a Suzuki volusia 1500 with the oil cooled system. The engine does get hot, especially here in Australia, however it only has a small oil cooler and the engine has a good reputation for reliability. I think Suzuki is on the money with this engine, stretch it to 400 or thereabouts, big tank to protect the big radiator ( the one on the 250 looks huge) and I reckon you have a replacement for the 400/650 range. And that finless engine looks good!

Heh. Neat. They finally adopted the Gixxer nickname as the official model name.

They should put automatic transmission on this thing and capture the entirety of the beginning rider demographics!

Interesting decision to do a redesign and STILL have the least power of the small displacement bikes. At least it's getting dual front discs, that's cool.

Power is basically the same as the CBR250R, which is still sold in many countries.
    13lbs lighter is nice.

Hopefully the 249cc engine will be cheaper to produce and the MSRP will be lower and they can make cash off high volume sales.

    But, no game changer.

The big wild card is service intervals... for me.
    And comfort
    Fuel economy
Would like to see 3.4 gallon tank. I doubt we will see 88mpg from the DR200.

There goes the weigh savings! :imaposer

Honda must be thrilled their solid third place in the big 4 isnt in jeopardy despite their own Herculean efforts to hit rock bottom.

    Darn,

We already have some good top speed footage.
On the slight down hill section we had 151kmph.

She was at 100 in 4th gear!
So this smokes the 200cc found in the VanVan and DR.
Hell, it smokes the P. twin motor found in the DL250. But to be fair the MC is 418lbs!!!

The power is so besides the point in 200-300 segment, it's not even comical, it's just sad that people bring it up.

1/4 mile on the p. Twin Suzuki is 17.06 secs. 75.69mph.
    Ninja 400 was 13.50 seconds. 97.42

I'd guess the new thumper would be 15.89 secs. 81mph.

    Go to the 4:15.

The GSX250R only made 20hp or so. Rear wheel. Shocking. This new 250 thumper is a huge up grade.

25 vs 39 (42 with the R3) is substantial. Its the difference between having to plan way in advance and downshift two or three times to hold 40 mph or just cruise in sixth gear up the same grade at 75.

Not a bad quick first impression video.
He references the CBR250R to the new SF.

    I'm not sure.
There appears to be a 12 volt outlet. Not sure if that is stock.

    I'll have to ask.

LOL, I see Suzuki's balance shaft still sounds like a muffled bucket of wrenches.

I have the feeling the guys in Suzuki's design department have a bet to see who can get the homeliest looking bike past the marketing department.
