Just wow, what a low blow. Really hope it is recovered in good shape. We thought we had a monopoly on stuff being nicked down here at the bottom of Afrika.

    I'm wiped out.
I've been walking around sitting down talking to the Aborigines in town. Telling them about my walk about and handing out my number saying no one will get in trouble. One told me he knows who took it and they rode it 200k away. He is calling someone who knows them in Doc River tonight to tell them it needs to be returned so it's owner can go back home.
Short post sorry long bloody day.

That is horrible news Aaron. I'm gutted for you. Really hoping that you will get your bike back and in one piece.
Seems like you've experienced the best and worst of oz in a short time. As someone else said - sadly all those fences in outback towns are there for a reason.
Good strategy talking to the local community but terrible that it has to come to that. Hopefully some decency will be on display and you will get your beloved bike back for its place in history - in a corner of your home forever.

Aaron iv sent you a message on Instagram, hope you’re able to stay around there and drive the search, phone docker river cops also, they will cast a net to other communities, ignore the cop bashing comments ( they will do what they can in between the daily rapes and murders in their communities and out stations), if you’re able, do keep looking around the resort service tracks for your gear which often gets ditched close by.keep searching close by, I wouldn’t put too much credit into the 200 km docker river story , get I touch if I can help in anyway from AliceSprings , iv notified some roadhouses on the Stuart Highway incase it’s spotted strapped to a ute but I doubt it’s been pinched by a white fella.good luck look after yourself. Aaron, if you need some accommodation other than your tent, call into the Yulara fire station and enquire about the VSO (visiting service officers rooms), if their available I’m sure the boys down there will lend you a hand.

    Man, that sucks !
Finger crossed, I hope you'll find the bastard but, more importantly, the bike in good shape.

This isnt the place to argue about the level of effort applied by the police regarding the likes of stolen bikes. But, when it comes down to the likes of Aaron finding their bike, hurting anyones feelings is not considered. Its not “cop bashing”, its stating a fact in alot of communities. Many of us have seen on many occasions where the public solve crimes. A local here retrieved his two bikes by doing his own investigations. The bikes were about to be shipped to Qld fron Nth East Vic. Only recently we read of a Melbourne fella getting his stolen bike from a regional area returned by the efforts of public input. So, best not to “ignore”. With communities in your region being different to other major regional areas, maybe the authorities approach things differently.

I have some industry friends and contacts in Australia. (Both OEM and aftermarket) I’ve distributed the link from the front page with the information to them. They will pass the info around to various dealerships and independent shops in case the bike shows up somewhere needing something, or tries to get sold. Never hurts to spread the word to as many as will listen.

This is awful. Really hope it ends well.
