All you need to do is get up to about 350 and you'll be able to flat foot it at almost any height.

[QUE="Aaron.S, post: 31234878, member: 355855"]My right hand is the only power setting on my bike. It will have the EU map in it and no smog stuff as I brought it in NZ. No power loss that I can tell. I'm not sure about maintenance because I am in two minds. On the one side it would be smart to throw a new piston and rings in check out the bore. On the other side I'm really curious to see how far it will go before it pops. I think I'll do wheel bearings.
I think id be thinking the same. Would be interesting to see how far it can go

I headed back to the coast and stayed in Ventura a night then headed up the PCH 1 but due to rain and mudslides it was blocked at Ragged point so I stayed in a little town just before that. Today back to heading north on the 101 cut back in below Santa Cruz and staying just out of San Francisco. Couldn't help myself had to do a little wheel stand on the golden gate Bridge. Too much traffic though. I also stopped when I saw this guy (Dave) and we had a chat for a while. He's been walking across America for a year he started in Florida up through Colorado cut in below Portland now heading south. [IMG]

We all have a journey in us if we decide to take it.

This thread is awesome!! I remember seeing you and me and my buddy were riding into Baja! I think it was either the 31st or the 1st, we were on a XR650L and DR350, saw you bombing down the highway somewhere around San Felipe!! We're back in Eugene, Ore where we live now, send me a message so we can buy you a beer man and hear some stories! Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah that would of been me. I'll be back in Portland on Saturday all going well. Unfortunately I won't be riding through Eugene as I'm going up the coast or I would stop in. I'll be around Portland for quite awhile though so keep in touch. If interested in any other pictures Instagram Aaronsteinmann1

Not sure if I've missed it Aaron, but could you share some details of what you brought along in your bags? Tent? Sleeping bag? Tools? etc.

San Francisco to Crescent city today. It was cold! But I hit a little milestone on the bike today it broke the 500hr mark. The distance is in kilometers. [IMG][IMG]

    Holy crap.
KTM should buy the bike and tear it apart, the way Toyota did for a 1 million mile 2007 Tundra.

Be careful coming into PDX, current prediction is for continued freezing conditions of cold and dry through Sunday. The roads still have slick spots.

Well I made it to Oregon!! And that was the point of the thread so it's a win. One more day to Portland the finish line. Cold day today but clear keeping an eye out for ice patches it didn't seem to get much above 0 to 5 deg C today. It felt really good crossing the state boarder. Great views and another day my bike was fun and can you believe it it made it? I had a few doubts when I brought it but I had no doubt that on a day to day basis that it would be a fun bike. Light with some grunt. Great for everything .. I will rant about it later. No matter what bike pack light. Touring cyclists do it and camp. One more day to Portland. The roads don't look great there due to snow so fingers crossed [IMG][IMG]

Congrats! Looking forward to your breakdown on gear used and what worked and what you would change next time.

Are you going to reverse and ride back?

No I'm staying in Portland for a while. Even if I weren't I don't think I would want to. I would be more interested in continuing forward and seeing new places. Just like when I go hiking I prefer loops rather than walking in turning around then walking the same way back.
