Congratulations! You have done something big. Thanks for taking us along.
Burt Munro would be proud!
Open to public usually first come first served. 5 to 15 dollars or something like that. I think some you can book.
I have a flight on Monday to Portland but yet to know if it's going still or I'll take it.
Aaron, thank you for taking us along, great RR!
Thanks for all the messages I really appreciate your positive feedback.
I started heading north from Invercargill on a pretty dim rainy day.
I took some back high country roads untill I made it to Alexandria.
It was pretty wet and cold so for the first time since I've been in NZ I treated myself to a room since I told myself I deserved it after completing my journey.
I proceeded to get a little bit drunk. Ha.
The next day as I was about to turn off the tarmac I looked down and noticed my radiator wobbling.
I stopped and saw both mounts had broken through completely on the radiator.
I've cable tied it up and it's pretty solid but I can't trust it will hold on the rough stuff so I'm going to have a baby it back to Christchurch.
I've certainly haven't gone easy on the poor old girl on this N.Z leg of the trip.
Here's one photo of the road and the others are from Skippers
canyon from the other day.
Congrats! What a great trip. Thank you for the fantastic report along the way.
It has but since you are to lazy to look then I'm to lazy to answer your lazy arse.
^ Good answer, .
it's hard to read about such steep trips knowing that borders are closing in many countries
Canada/US border just closed
if you come back and we don't all die of the Kung Flu, I will have to ride down for a beer.
Most Epic Aaron! Where will the ornament stay?
From October 2016
"Thanks! And it has become mine. I think it will turn into a ornament. Don't think I could sell it after this trip."
Like the others, your exploits are one of the main reasons I moved from Japan to Austria ie DR to EXC. The 500 feels special everytime I hit the dirt, even if it is a flat road. And congratulations on the consistent quality of your photos. You obviously take some time to work out the composition/exposure of each photo and we have ended up with spectacular ones, right up to those rippers in NZ. Just goes to show that video isn't the be all and end all of bike riding reports. There is so much average to poor stuff on Youtube I now skip most of them.
When I read that your trip was over I shed a tear knowing that a friend that I never met but knew well was leaving and I would never hear from him again.
The optimist in me thinks that there is another adventure lurking in the back of your mind.
Best of luck in the future.
My 2012 500 EXC just reaching middle age at 969 hours and 39900 K on the clock. At 1000 hours I will take it apart and freshen it up, or not.
Not sure. I guess it will depend on where end up.
Thanks and that's getting way up there in the hours!!
Was just thinking today: Have you thought about putting a map together to show your whole RTW route? I always like seeing that from RTW travelers, but hey, no pressure. Cheers, mate
Is there anywhere that you wished you had gone?
