So I hear. It's boosted my motivation to get some K's behind me and still trying not to miss out on stuff to see on the way.

Like you needed another reason to buy a KTM. I went to the ktm dealer here in Guatemala to buy some oil and a couple filters and as soon as they saw my bike and heard how far I had come they offered to do a service on it free. Also replacing my burnt indicator no charge. I got treated like a rock star. Thankyou KTM Guatemala! !! [IMG][IMG]

Don't come to Canada. KTM dealers here would charge you double.

By and large you are right.. Here in Quebec they really are crooks. No just crooks, but liars as well. Really gives KTM a bad name. I've found one in Trois Rivieres who isn't a crook, is fair, but no way would they do a free service like that..

Great ride report Aaron! You are not the first to be banging big miles on a 500 but you are certainly adding to the list! There are a lot of pluses (coming from a 690 owner!).
Pretty awesome getting the free service in Guatemala!

I think there is a big difference to banging big miles on the 500 from your home to local trail or between States than on a point A to Point B trip through South and Central America. More often than not days from a KTM dealer and parts. Not so interested been on the big hours list but put me on the point A to point B list and I'm super curious if someone out there has done further on a 500 solo.

Now that point A to B list would be a mighty short list in deed. Awesome RR you arte writing, please keep with it. Loved the volcano shot.

I was looking for The Rolling Hobo's latest trip on his 500 but I couldn't find it.
His trips are pretty high mileage and pretty extreme off road.

I think the Motonomad folks might be your only competition on distance and remoteness.

Great website its well done. Look into the mileage. I'm going for a stock 500 making my distance what ever it turns out to be. Everyone has their own.

Unfortunately the Rolling Hobo injured himself in the Carpathian Mountains which cut his last trip short, no doubt he will give it another crack when the weather turns next year.

    Awesome stuff Aaron.S!!! I thought I had settled on a 690 after contemplating a 500 for quite some time...now I'm back thinking about a 500 again :rofl

I rode up to Flores the last couple days with on again off again Rain. The first morning was 10k of lane splitting gridlock traffic in Guatemala city .Joy. Today was nicer and I went to Tikal to see the Mayan temples. You can then pay another 50Q and get a pass to ride 20k up a slippery clay road to some other ruins at Uaxactun.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
