It's funny reading this thread and some other similar type threads, bikers are so so conservative its amusing.
They like to make out that they are individuals but in fact they just follow the herd and buy bikes that their mates approve of.
And all this talk of computers failing as if it is an every day occurrence is a real joke, computers are probably the most reliable single invention on the planet.

The KTM1190R I owned briefly was waaaay too quick for my eyesight and reflexes - this 1290 would be a step up again.

I really like the headlight, it's not the same old boring like most other brands.
What might be deemed as ugly today maybe classic tomorrow..

    Yeah, nah.
My mates regular commentary goes something like.... 'you brought a what? Why? Thats too much, thats pointless, thats never going to get ridden......' I dont care. I like it, I'll buy it. The only time Ive ever referred to mates is the last purchase, and it was around financial concerns in the face of covid and a potential economic downturn etc, nothing to do with the bike itself.

Sure. Computers are reliable, probably moreso than mechanical things. Problem is, they're connected by wiring, and plugs, to switches and sensors. That lot often arent, and when they're troublesome, theyre a real PITA.
As much as I like my recent high tech whiz bang purchase, I thing for a lot of more remote stuff I'll take the SE. I KNOW that can be fixed, and theres no such thing as limp mode.

They were proven time and again to be the best off-road bike ever made by average riders like Chris Birch and Adam Riemann. You must be shit Nev.

Anyway, me boat works, I’m off to chuck some real bait out.

Do 1290's have too much power, of course, it's just stupid to think otherwise, and you can't really use it, can you? :muutt

Not sure if you are referring to on a bike but there is no such thing as being stuck in rush hour traffic on a bike. Slowed down a little yes, but not stuck.

The CFMoto are a better looking Kisko design than some of these KTMs.

I really like the idea of replacing my inazuma with a 390 Adventure for commuting and running around.

But that headlight screams Versys 300 at me.
