I didn’t end up heading out to the bdr. Maybe next season! Thanks for all the info.

One more thing...when you get to the I-10 on the way to Bensen, you will encounter this locked gate, which will require substatial back-tracking, or some bushwhacking. I've seen no mention of this on the BDR site.

That gate was open the last time I went thru it. But that was several years ago and maybe before the AZBDR was formally released. Looks that is State Trust land and one might need a permit to ride there at all.

The gate was open when I rode it last, but that was 2015. Possible it is State Trust land, though I didn't see any signs. We have permits.

We had to backtrack a ways.

Did you backtrack to the west? That looks doable.

Any chance of defeating the locked gate by dismantling some of it? We have had luck with that over the years.
But I guess I would be hesitant to do it right by the interstate. But on the other hand it is on relatively public land.

We did detour to the west. A couple steep hills, but doable.

I've got a question heading out there December 20 through Jan 2...looking for some areas to ride. At the moment I've got an Enduro stored in Phoenix. Is it possible to ride the first 4 or 5 stages that late in the season. Looking for suggestions.

National Weather Service guestimates the winter will be warmer and drier than average. It certainly has been so far.
I rode in Flagstaff on saturday. Beautiful day.

So long as there isnt snow on the trail you should be fine. As you get closer keep an eye on the forecast.
